The cams tend to be closer to the £450-£500 mark, the Shrick ones are stupid money!

I wouldn't recommend the diff option... it would also bugger your cruising speed something rotten. Only consider that if you can find a nice little M3 Evo gearbox (and therefore entire rear setup) at the same time... and if you did that, you may as well go solid flywheel, etc... all mounts up very quickly, it's been very difficult restraining myself to certain work not being done! hehe

I thought it would be bad for cruising speed too but apparently it adds about 500rpm @70mph... but the consumption is still about the same.
Was perusing this earlier: http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-1388-e36-differe...

But actually I find I need to stay in 4th all the time anyway to get the best economy at 70!

I've got a 2.93 standard LSD lined up, so will be keeping the standard ratios- except my light as feck flywheel makes me quicker anyway. As Hampshire Constabulary discovered. frown

I am going to have to try that one out... be impressed if it works!

Gah! Hampshire! They are responsible for my only points; 56 in a 50. Average speed zone, sunday, no traffic, no work being done. Apparently my mistake was coasting down to 50 instead of braking. Doh. (Was actually the first time I'd ever encountered SPECS, maybe three months after passing)

You could well be right... if the 328i was mostly as quick as the M3, who would've bothered buying the M3?
a friend of mine's BF took us out in his less-than-a-year-old E92 M3 and I must say I was a bit disappointed by the noise even when he was wringing it out. Lovely induction sound but seemed a bit restrained, almost choked. Also, too much stuff going on on the screen in the centre console... and I thought that already the graphics looked dated. Give it ten years and it'll be like having an Amstrad CPC464 sitting at the heart of the car.

OK so I must be a bit mental... Today I just put a downpayment on a matching convertible to match my coupé... Couldn't resist a low-mile 328i though, it is auto but tbh I don't care as it's gonna be more of a cruiser anyway. As usual, a few cosmetic niggles to sort, but that's par for the course at this age!

Am I mental? Probably!

Too cool. But where will you find a matching set of Hartge wheels? You should just sell me your Hartges so you can get two sets of matching wheels. biggrin

Good score. I do love that colour.

Well... matching wheels is possibly a bit too obvious. Complimentary wheels is where its at. And my beady eye is open... and may even have seen something that could fit the bill... tbh the first money spent on this beast will be sorting the nasty rusty arch on the other side...

In general though I think I am gonna be keeping this one the Jekyll to the Osprey's Hyde, most likely gonna keep it quite OEM, I reckon. I might even avoid lowering it for a few months, haha!

So I collected the 'vert today, which was most gratifying, just in time for the 2 weeks of sunshine to end and the rain to kick in, haha! Oh well, hopefully it'll be sunny again soon! She needs a good clean though so I haven't taken any pics yet, but soon, soon!

Also fitted a subwoofer to the coupe yesterday, gave her a good wax & polish and of course, had to take a few pics before the builder's dust and seagull crap undoes all the good work...

...and here's a picture of 'the twins'.

FYI the 'vert has been named 'The Peregrine' (pere-green, geddit?)

yeah the auto box isn't bad at all, I'm glad I can have both for different applications. I find the brakes on the vert seem to be less good than on the coupé, possibly because it's heavier, and I guess it's like braking with the gas pedal slightly depressed as being an auto, it will always roll forward by itself.

Loving the green pair!

Agree that the auto suits the cabrio more, much more relaxed driving style when you're cruising.

Those Hartge alloys look rather tasty. Don't see many of them about now. cool

Seen you Sunday, I was sat in Henry's Bar Mount Pleasant looking out of the window whilst enjoying a nice pint when you came through the lights. Must say the Coupe was looking and sounding very nice.
