LordGrover, very nice to hear your review. As a dealer myself, its nice to read back, and find positives from customers, including the ones we have in here.
May I be cheeky, what issues did you have with your dealer??
I may post a separate topic, but I'd have to be mindful of name & shame rules. May I be cheeky, what issues did you have with your dealer??

Sounds good, I see on your garage you had a fto at one point.. what's the speed feel like compared to that? Had a few enjoyable drive's in my ex's gpx.
Also, you had a custom exhaust and you've got rid - do tell
The FTO was a while ago, can't really remember it well enough to compare. Sorry. Also, you had a custom exhaust and you've got rid - do tell
The exhaust was a mistake. Sounded fine on full chat and tickover, but got a nasty drone/resonance between 2,000-3,000RPM. Couldn't live with it.
The concept car image at the top of your post looks so cool!
Then your actual car....not so much.
It's an 'OK' looking Coupé for sure, but not as striking as the last-gen Celica for example, a piece of design which puts the GT86 to shame I think - it looks too mainstream, understated. And it does look 'underwheeled' from some angles.
Enjoyed your write-up though, be interesting to see how you feel towards it in 6 months time...

Which angles? The wheels look absolutely massive compared to my MR2 on standard 15s..
I also agree with CAR. I think it needs bigger wheels.- a decent ride
- cheap tyres
- lightness (admittedly you could spent X amount on some big forged wheels, but it won't be cheap)
- progressive loss of traction

Just watched The Harris video on the M135i and RS3 what one of the two would I rather have? Neither, I'd have one of these.
..and what one of the three would I rather have? None, a used Cayman would be my choice, as per the Harris vid.Lovely car though op, if you want something nice and new, without the risk of big bills.
Probably one of my favourite new cars in that price range but, I'd never buy new.

I don't think the issue is with the size of the wheels, more that there is a clear trend for steeply rising waistlines with cars released in the last five or so years, which leads to very small rear side windows. This makes the rear wheel look much smaller, as it becomes lost in a sea of metal work. Have a look at the Evoque, Mk6 Fiesta, 2nd-gen Hyundai i30, to name a select few. What the reasons behind this are I don't know, but I feel sorry for rear seat passengers, especially kids who might not even be able to see anything at all.
I think this summarises it quite well, the expression is 'slab-sided' which makes the rear wheel imparticular look too small. I don't think the design of wheel helps either, the whole diamond-cut thing makes the wheels visually 'shrink'. Sorry to re-post an old image, but this looks vastly better even though the wheel design is un-changed...
LG - a few things...
- Any photos of the engine bay?
- think I'd change the front indicators for silver bulbs, and try and lose the number plate plinth on the front
- Agree with the sentiments about the wheels, they don't suit the car IMO.
- any plans for any mods?
- did you realise this was going to be such a contentious car? Reminds me of the Broccoli / Civic Type-R thread from years ago...

. Were it any other colour I may agree, but the ginger suits the winkers IMO. The US FR-S in the Polaroid just looks wrong with no plate - guess I've been conditioned.
. I have no problem with the wheels, and no cash to do anything about it if I did
. Not this year. Maybe next, but nothing much.
. been watching the threads for about a year now.
