c. -2kgs /corner and a little wider. I guess replacing the winters with nice new tyres has helped too, but it feels much more agile and nimble. Smooths out the lumps, bumps and crevasses too.
Changed the wheels on my Focus ST to OZs - saved 3KG per corner over the OEM Ronals, and it really made a huge difference to the feel of the car.Podie said:

Have to say, I agree. It's the first time I've 'upgraded' my wheels and amazed at the difference. I'm working down in Wimborne at the moment which is two hours each way on A and B roads, no dual carriageway let alone motorway. Some great roads which were great fun this morning and on the way back. There's a stretch just after Shaftesbury up zig-zag hill and over the top which is awesome as the sun rises.
Went up to Warrington on Sunday for Tuning Developments open day. I'd wanted to see and try their turbo-charged GT86, but they were so busy I didn't get the chance to go out in it. It looks like a neat installation though. Having driven DaveJH's turbo I think I have an idea of how it'd perform anyway.
Yesterday I went to Abbey Motorsport at Oxted. Mark took me out in their Harrop/Eaton supercharged car, which is largely standard including OEM exhaust, though it has HKS dampers and big wheels. It's impressive. Unlike the turbo, there's a gradual build from low down - it feels more like a large capacity V8 to me. It was reminiscent of my TVR Griffith in its delivery. Not mind blowing but purposeful. I like it.
If I'm to go FI then it'll be the Harrop supercharger, but I'm still concerned that I'd miss revving the nuts off the NA engine.
I'm worried about making an expensive mistake, which I'll regret. I really like it the way it is, but the temptation to add some lazy grunt may persuade me to make the jump.
First world problems, eh?

Interesting quandary... I think if you're worried you do need to try and drive a converted car.Yesterday I went to Abbey Motorsport at Oxted. Even back in Ford land, the power delivery between Mountune's MP260 and MR290 is very, very different.
On a slight tangent, Ive found the lighter wheels are worth 2mpg in my car!
Yep. A 20 minute test drive isn't enough really. It feels great when you press on, though I didn't try it much even then, but on another forum someone who's gone for it has raised a doubt or two.
I've not noticed any change in mpg, but then I don't monitor it closely anyway.
Had alignment reset while at Abbey though - the new wheels, tyres and geo has made a massive difference - also lubricated the ARB bushes which has stopped the perishing squeaks! Much nicer to drive now.

My honest opinion is that the car N/A has more than enough power for driving twisty B roads. I just find I have to back off way earlier now with the SC, which in many ways makes it less enjoyable.

Wheels are looking good! Even at standard ride height.
Will be interested to hear your thoughts on the coilovers once they're on.
Think you'll enjoy the manifold - however doesn't the one in the photo have a turbo attached to it? Something you're not telling us...?
