How are you finding the lack of grunt? People discount these after a 30 minute test drive but I've found after a month the modest power output is not an issue and I'm starting to think its perfect. I'll never get tired of heel toeing to 3rd and taking the third exit of a roundabout in this car (all the nasty things off of course).
Is circa 200bhp really not enough for daily driving?

Granted, I think they should have used a smaller capacity turbo with around 250bhp...

confused Can't find orig post.

I'm with RichyBoy on this... initially it feels a little underwhelming, but once I became used to the [lack of] power it's now the norm. And I like it.
I've never driven a turbo or sc powered car so can't possibly comment, but my gut feel is I have no need to. I like this.
I'm sure if I drove one of those red italian super cars I'd like it, but for the time being I can be happy in my own little world, not missing what I've never had.

FWIW, the Griff and Zed had way more oomph, but I prefer this as a day-to-day all-rounder. Even fun on a fun-run.

Not really. Try changing the spark plugs...

Good job the standard items are supposed to last a while!

Probably countered by having the easiest oil and filter change though!

EDIT; Also the thin plastic pipe on the left of the inlet is your 'Noise Generator' lol, so if you don't like that feature it could probably be easily disconnected without modification so it can be returned back to standard easily...

I ws just about to post ' is that the oil filter sitting on the tp there?'. Very easy place to change out and gives you no excuse for not doing it often!

I cant help but think an extra inch or two on the rear wheel would make it look a bit better. Same story as the Maserati Gran Turismo. Great looking car (if the rear wheel was a tiny bit bigger).

I know I know... this car is about ragging a tiny little engine through the twisties... but a V6 option wouldn't hurt.

Hey Lou, when you going to sort me out a test drive :P

seriously tempted by one in the new year. :P
Would look good on the driveway, I know you miss the old Brabus Coupe, and your various RS cars.

Well come new year, when your getting closer dude, we will get you out for a drive!! BTW, I completley forgot, and guess you did in regards to the steering wheel and pedals?

Its funny you should mention that as thats the only thing that puts me off this over my gpx - the V6 sound. Its like a modern day version of it styling wise but rwd! bounce

and it could use a better style of wheel.

LG - a few things...

  • Any photos of the engine bay?
  • think I'd change the front indicators for silver bulbs, and try and lose the number plate plinth on the front
  • Agree with the sentiments about the wheels, they don't suit the car IMO.
  • any plans for any mods?
  • did you realise this was going to be such a contentious car? Reminds me of the Broccoli / Civic Type-R thread from years ago... hehe
Now have chromed winkers all round. biggrin

A nice surprise... just re-insured it for another year: £164!

I paid c. £300 for the 350Z last year and had a small rebate, about a tenner when I switched to the Toyota in September. I was expecting £250-300.
I suspect the combination of me hitting the big 50 and insurance companies no longer able to discriminate because I'm not a woman helped. thumbup

Must be the rates SAGA do. wink

Has the Top Gear article softened people's opinions at all? Clarkson seemed to like it...

Heard a fairly tasty sounding car hustling up behind yesterday morning as I was queueing at the exit of a roundabout, looked round and noticed one of these dive onto the roundabout, then slither round nicely before shooting off up the road. Made my morning commute that bit more entertaining.

Lovely car!

Yes one with a turbo would be good, but if they had only sold it with a turbo people would be straight on it to moan about it having a turbo. Boost delays it not being pure etc

I went for a test drive in one on Saturday.Very impressed with the looks and the interior. Was expecting the drive would clinch it as my next daily driver. Sadly for me the lack of power and the sound of the boxer engine killed it! The feel of the car is great, but try as I might I could not forgive the engine.Never mind a turbo, what it needs is a sweet sounding, high reving twin cam straight 4 (S2000 style). I came away from the dealers really annoyed with myself for not wanting one.

The FTO was a while ago, can't really remember it well enough to compare. Sorry.

The exhaust was a mistake. Sounded fine on full chat and tickover, but got a nasty drone/resonance between 2,000-3,000RPM. Couldn't live with it.
I also have a GT86 and want to improve the sound, Was just curious which exhaust it was that had a nasty drone scratchchin
