Thanks
It's an RCM450, will hopefully give a big improvement over 3500 and be pretty much the same as my 20g below that point. I guess it'll be 420bhp/480lbft on the conservative Wallace rollers. Don't really care too much to be honest, it's the feel that's important.
The 20g felt fantastic at first (and, being honest, still does for most of the time) and it got me used to a bit more power. It does sometimes feel like the power tails off quickly though and since the engine is already capable of a good bit more torque it seems a shame to not make the most of it!
I had a wee run in a gt30 equipped new-age and it was bloody quick but still had quite a high boost threshold and I'm trying to avoid that.
Actually, if I knew then what I know now I would have got the CDB inserts and gone for a 2.6 stroker but hey-ho, maybe next time.

Bought these lovely things from the nice chaps at Zen
And some 355 x 32 discs to complement them.
I won't be fitting them until March, when my 17" winters come off so I've got some time to think of tyre choice.
Any recommendations? I've been very happy with AD08 but I don't think they come in 225x40r18 flavour

I've got Potenza RE050s on my Impreza and think they are great in wet and dry. That said maybe they are not as focused as you would be after having had the AD08s. Mine are 205/50/16 but they come in the right size for yours too.
Thanks, I think they were oem on the p1 in 205x45R17.But, yes, I got on really well with ad08 this summer I think I'll stick with them on 18's. Now that I know I can get them!
Been in to Brian's recently? I dropped my car off tonight for an oil service. Turbo and box arriving next week

Not had the need, will be in for its MOT in April and fingers crossed not before! Don't get me wrong he's great with Subarus but I ended up spending a fair whack around last MOT time and don't wish a repeat! Need to change my oil in mean time though, do you reckon 3k mile changes are necessary on classics? I've done about that since it was last changed in April.Ordinary_Chap said:
I've been doing 6k changes but to be honest, I don't think its necessary.
Modern oil doesn't break down quickly so whilst we like to treat our old girls to lots of tlc, I'm not sure of the value?
I'm not sure it is that important either, but given the propensity these engines have to let go (or so it seems!) I'm willing to do anything necessary to negate the risk. Mine is on just under 85k but is totally standard so fingers crossed mechanical sympathy (never thrash from cold/always allow engine to cool after hard driving/never going over 6k revs etc) and regular oil changes will keep her going.Modern oil doesn't break down quickly so whilst we like to treat our old girls to lots of tlc, I'm not sure of the value?
Sorry for the slight derail!
I agree, I've never pampered an engine like this before I must admit!
Good quality oil, changed regularly is just good practice I think, maybe a bit on the conservative side but I spent a lot of money on the engine and if the builder recommends every 5k then that's what I'll do. Otherwise, it's an easy get-out clause if it does let go

Mine had a full engine rebuild at about 94k and is now on 114k so hopefully with careful maintenance she will keep going!
