Lovely looking car Lefty, but I do question the wisdom of modifying a P1. A P1 is only a P1 if unmodified, once you have changed it, it is just another Impreza STi. Each to their own, but don't expect your money back on your mods.
Although I see that yours was cheap and in need of TLC. At least it is being saved from the breakers!

Got some new wheels today.
Brand spanking 18" p1 wheels from an ex-prodrive engine builder.
I'm going to use these for winters, will probably need spacers to fill out the wrc arches.
Picked up a set two days ago for mine (not new).Brand spanking 18" p1 wheels from an ex-prodrive engine builder.

Managed to get them in ET46 as opposed to the more common ET53(?) so they clear the Brembos and fill the arches nicely.
Very light wheel!
I still haven't decided what to do re tyres and arches.
My quandary is this:
I've got some lovely big 6-pot AP's and discs to fit under 18' wheels. They won't fit 17's. The calipers that are on at the moment (Prodrive Alcons) are good but the car is so much faster than stock I feel I need some more braking power. Already using braided hoses and racing fluid with a brake stopper bracket on the cylinder. Plus, the 330mm discs are a bd to find and fking expensive. I know there are some alternative disc manufacturers but I've seen some quality issues and brakes are one area I don't want to skimp on.
So, new brakes = new wheels. Cool, I've got some brand new prodrive p1 18 wheels but tyres are the problem. 225x35 r18 is standard fitment with 18" wheels but 215x35 will fit. Neither of those sizes can be had in any kind of track tyre or winter tyre.
I've also fitted a 6-speed box and rear diff from a newage impreza. Because the current tyres are a bit smaller the final drive ratio is a bit low which I'd like to correct.
My options are:
1. Trim the arches to fit 225x40 R18 tyres as per newage Imprezas.
2. Roll the arches to fit the same. Looks crap IMHO.
3. Fit Arch spats. Looks st but is cheap. Doesn't look like a p1 any more.
Like this:
4. Go the WRC or 22b route. Looks good but v expensive. Let's me fit much bigger wheels/tyres (265x35) but then there's extra strain on bearings wrc. Might need newage hubs too. Definitely doesn't look like a p1 any more.
Number 3 and 4 have the advantage of permanently fixing the rusting arches issue.
Option 1 and 2 are very cheap (£500 ish). Option 3 is still quite cheap (£1000). Option 4 is a lot. Like £4k.
I'm veering toward option 1...but would love wrc arches. Can't decide where to stop though!
Your thoughts?

Just realised I haven't really mentioned the new turbo much.
Had it mapped by Paul of Zen Performance and it really is quite something. 1.6 bar on 99ron (although I have a 1.2bar map on 99 and another on 95.)
It makes 1bar by 3000rpm, 1.6 before 4000. Not been near a dyno but it feels an awful lot fitter than it did with the 20g.

If you are going to keep the car forever then I`d go the whole hog as you will likely always want to do it and will just be spending money unnecessarily on quick fixes until you do. It may not look like a P1 anymore but with the correct bumpers it will more like a 22B and therefore so much better.
If you ever want to sell it would be a 22B replica but better so should be worth a decent amount and if you never sell you basically have a 22B.
Easy for me to say though, its not my money. I also like the wide arch spats.

Was in seeing Brian the other day to book in for a service/MOT (also discussed bigger turbos, STI injectors, remapping, new suspension, droplinks, ARBs etc etc...) and he specifically referred to how phenomenally quick and capable one of his customer's 2.5 litre P1 is
How are you finding the 6 speed box? Has it changed the nature of the drive much?
