Discussion
Gone slightly over budget (!) but I love it. Modifying doesn't make much economic sense but I justify it to myself saying that if I'd spent £25k on a new car it would probably be worth a similar amount to my p1 now. Maybe. Hmmm.

Pah! Call that a full spec or a serious overspend for a P1. Sorry, Iain, but you have long way to go to be a truly sad P1 owner.
I worked out a couple of years ago that I could have easily have bought a 911 GT3 RS and a small village in the Welsh valleys for what I've spent on my P1 over the last 14 years, but these cars make you do it.

£75k is probably on the short side, but then I did buy it new as well- which was £31,495.
It's still sort of a road car, but at around 580bhp/1290kg on plain V Power it's not completely sensible. I might go for a Meths map one of these days....
Not madly dissimilar to yours, but I've gone the stroked 2.2 closed deck block route to get 2.35 litres of goodness. The EJ22T block is supposedly the strongest block you can get and when stroked is pretty close to the 2.5 in torque, but also retains rev ability which suits the race heads set up.. The power band starts at about 3600 and goes to 8000, but I use 7500 as a self imposed limit.
Motec m800, 6 speed DCCD, twin plate cerametallic Exedy clutch, big rear R180 rear axle with plated diff, new bushes, ball joints, etc.
I'll post up the full spec sometime. Just sold my previous 2000 mile old 2.1 engine ( can you see where the money goes...)
I have a Safety Devices removable rear cage with harnesses that goes in instead of the rear seats for track days and I turn up the damping on the Exe tc coil overs as well. 4 sets of wheels - one17" full slicks, one 17" R888s, one 17" toyo R1Rs, one 18" goodyears.
I'm going to enjoy this for a while and then probably go wide arch after that.

Thanks!
Quite often see dogs at that price-range!
There was a really ropey one sold for £3500 but it was really nasty.
Mine was advertised at £4600 and needed new headers, arches done, front bumper painted, new wheels and tyres, pads all round and was due a service so at least £2-3000 worth of work. Short tax and test too.
You can pick up decent ones for 6-7k, good ones for 8-ish I guess.
