I seem to recall them quoting around £500 but I'll try and find the mail. You could try the link below though?

M30 Schrick Camshafts
Schrick 282-282º duration, 10.6 mm lift. Smooth idle, no internal engine modifications necessary. Dual valve springs, chrome alloy retainers required. Performance chip strongly suggested.

Has anyone used or heard reviews of Schmiedmann cams? They have a decent offer of what looks like an OEM cam clone inc rockers. Can't really see any opinions about their kit online though.

Also, we (by which I mean Michael) decided the cam cover will be getting the stock Millar-Williams (TM) silver on black to match the Porsche smile

I know they sponsor the e21.net forum, but other than that I've not heard of anyone using their products. They're pretty well known though and I've certainly not read any negative reports. That said, there are some nice deals on Schrick around and they're certainly the best option available.

Cam cover will look great.

Well the cam should be ordered today, going for a Piper 270 fast road cam, nothing too gnarly but should be fun.

Also appears the followers are borked, goodbye another £250 for parts alone.

Nice choice. As you say, nothing too radical, but still enough to let your m30 breathe a little deeper and makes the most of having to pull the head.

Looking forward to hearing how it runs and drives once back together.

Hoping to be back in the road in 2 weeks, I'm getting so fking impatient now!

The cam was the suggestion of Michael who is doing the work. We had an interesting chat about cams in general and he suggested the higher lift with the more modern profiling should work beezer.

That sounds interesting Mark, may well try and get over and meet up for an afternoon when you're in the north.

As for the E12, everything ordered and paid for now (ouch) so the rebuild is about to begin. The new Piper cam and followers are due to be delivered before the end of next week so the aim is to get most everything else done and chuck that little sucker in towards the end.

It needs a bit of suspension / bushes / exhaust work so we'll hopefully pile on with that now. I'm off to the workshop this afternoon so will get busy.

Just had the starter reconditioned as it was so accessible with the head and manifolds off. Looking like new and quite reassuring seeing how buried it is in the engine bay...

I can confirm just how buried they are, the rear bolt was designed by the devil himself, that he is.
Indeed, that's probably why that worst bolt had been sawn in half meaning that someone only needed to get 3 or 4 turns on it. tts!

Must have been our friends the specialist engine builders. Very clean saw blade marks straight through it leaving a few threads to get on. Absolute jokers frown

Not a big update as been busy with work and general life. The E12 put-back-together starts today though.

I managed a few hours in the workshop this weekend, mainly addressing the minging boot. I forgot to take any photos of the 'before' but there was a lot of surface rust and general cockiness. Was solid though. I hoovered the sucker out, sanded away the worst of it and then gave it hell with some Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 that Michael handily had to, erm, hand. I got a bit over enthused by the whole thing and went a bit mental. I'll have to respect any rust that manages to get back in here...

The wheels are now blasted and ready for some TLC. I've still to decide what to do but I'm erring on the side of a very pale gold. Still not 100% on that though. Can't wait to have it back on the stock 14 inchers. I'm going to get some sticky track rubber on the 16 inchers and just keep them for hooning.

I had some unexpected free time over the weekend, some beer and cans of paint. And before you knew it...
