Well folks, it's up for sale and I'm a bit sad. Hopefully the V6 Alpine will take some of the pain away. Thankfully I think it will.
I'd had a few verbal 'offers' so went in quite punchy on price, a grand over the best one.
Sadly the 'offers' didn't work out and the lack of calls over the last few days has made me drop it by 1250 in the hope of hooking a buyer.
In the mean time I took it down to Goodwood on Friday for the Mission Motorsport Invitational that I helped organise. It's such a great car, will cruise at silly speeds and then really entertain on the twisties.
Hopefully a work project comes good and I don't have to sell in the end.

Well those of you that know the car have probably seen it advertised. It's been up for a few weeks now and not sold yet. I went in very toppy at first but have dropped it a bit now.
I'm at a bit of a loss really, thought there would be way more interest in it. I've had the usual mongs agreeing to buy it and then dropping out after causing me a load of grief. Also had some nice blokes in touch but not getting to where I want to be cash wise. Had calls from Australia and Japan but nobody seems to be in a rush.
Fortunately the Alpine is still tucked up in its garage in France and isn't going anywhere, good to know I'm not going to lose it.
I've just put the ads down to 'offers' so will see if that gets me anywhere.
I've been hooning around in it a bit too as and when the weather allows. It's all beautiful and ready for sale so don't really want to go and leave rubber up the rear arches only to have to clean it up again
I still go through phases of yes/no/yes/no to selling it but my over riding need for competition of some sort means it'll ultimately go - it's just too good now to strip out and take racing or rallying.
I did my ARDS test at Silverstone on Monday so now have my racing licence as well as the rally licences. This has got me even more up for the Alpine as it'll be a perfect car for things like the Tour Auto and Tour Britannia which are events that combine road rallying, stage rallying and track racing elements. ARDS was pretty tough as I was driving the Mission Motorsport M3 track slag. It's on whopping slicks and there was a lot of standing water all round the track, especially all down the Wellington Straight. I had a chat with Mark Hales and Darren Turner who were both there hooning around. They said if you can pass the test on those tyres in that kind of weather it bodes well for podiums
Oh well, it's Friday so I'm going to go for a bacon sandwich and think about cars some more. I've got the Porsche to get ready for this season of winter rallying too so that's going to take up most of the weekend.

I'm surprised it hasn't sold by now too. I'd love it myself, but simply don't have the means. Funnily enough I was speaking to the owner of the green one at Santa Pod a couple of weeks ago and his hasn't sold either. Given the quality of yours, I'm surprised Classic Heroes or Four Star haven't been in touch. For all their failings, they do seem to have a pretty large customer base who'll pay top dollar for quality examples.
This weather has been a bonus. I've been using the M3 and hopefully it'll stay dry for this coming weekends festival of Cornish motorsport. Shame you're so far away.

I had my first proper mentalist last night on text. Started off nicely then got very shouty and threatening when I politely declined his offer. He didn't seem to realise that stating in capital letters that he's a 'CASH BUYER MATE, CASH" didn't really sway me as I'm not after trading it for livestock or favours... Lovely old thing. I had a Sapphire blue one a good few years ago and went all the way up to Doncaster to collect it. I had a 'spirited' drive back to Oxford, just wanted to race anyone and everyone. :-)
How is Mark Hales these days anyway? I hope he's managed to sort out that awful David Piper business.

Thought I saw this for sale and hoped it wasn't yours. Sorry you've got to sell. Glad I got a lap round Blyton in it though, I was blown away by how quick it was and how well it handled. Hopefully I'll be able to return the favour in the E9 one day....
Good luck with the Alpine
edit: oh and good luck with the sale, I'm surprised it hasn't been snapped up

I've just gone last ditch price reduction on evilbay and opened it to 'offers' on the various classic car websites, hope that encourages some action.

good history in this thread alone.
This is one of the main reasons I write about my own cars online. If ever I were to sell, prospective buyers can see exactly what has (or hasn't) been done to maintain the car. I guess it could even be printed off and put in a ring binder? I think it's way better than a stack of old tax discs and MOT certificates!Whoever buys this M535 will have one of the best examples out there.
Well I've dropped the price and smartened up the ad on evil bay (won't link to it here, obv)
Am pretty surprised it hasn't gone by now. The Munich Legends car came along and made mine look expensive I guess. That said I know the cashmere car needs over 1.5k in parts and maybe 150 hours on it to make it near mine.
Oh well. Interested to hear if people think the ad isn't right. I've now linked to a mega upload of pics on Flickr and a downloadable pdf of all work carried out. It's the kind of ad I like to see so hopefully will do the trick.
