Awesome work. I love this era of BMW (an E9 csl is on my dream list). Keep up the good work... I'll be following keenly

Hats off to you Olly, done a lot of work yourself. I dont think i would have the confidence to do any prep work myself.

Fantastic job Olly.
What are you using to remove the old paint?

Are you using any paint stripper with the discs to soften it?

Nope. That would be a bad idea, non? Paint stripper flying around!
Dunno. Read a few resto threads where they're applying it first to soften the paint, and then going over with strip discs.

When it's done you'll look at the M535i and remember the hard work and effort you put in to make it happen and how it's 'yours' now.

All seems like its been a busy few weeks bud. How far along do you think you are with the project? Still on the uphill or is paint the beginning of the re-assembly and *most* hard work over.

I really want a project but lack of garage/driveway is a stopper. My last E30 325 sport project ended up in my parents garage for 2 years and I gave it away in the end frown

I'm old enough to remember when these came out. I've always loved them, used to see quite a few in South Africa.

Maybe I missed something, but if you are stripping the paint back to bare metal, how are you protecting it until the car gets repainted?

But the bad news is the paintshop have let me down, so on the hunt for a new one!
That's st. I imagine finding a suitable paint shop is rather tedious.

And mostly, I want to see it finished.
