Picked this car up from the bodyshop this morning, was purchased back in September.

Since ownership, I've had it resprayed, and put a new set of wheels on her.

Before I lock her up for the winter, thought I'd show the folk of PH, get their opinions ... And in given time, replace that stereo unit!

So, what do we all think?

lovely - nice to see it in red rather than the usual silver - without being too cheeky, didn't they spray the door sills?

To be honest, I've not even noticed the door sills! The guy that does it for me is related to the wife, I'll give it a look tomorrow.

Initially, I was in two minds about the wheels, decided in the end to throw them on, obviously everyone's entitled to their opinion.

Nonetheless, thanks for the comments!

Lovely classic car......although spares can be very expensive if anything major goes wrong.

Probably not worth THAT much now, but in 20/30 years could be worth a fortune.....

I agree about the wheels, including the one you steer it with! smile
Very nice though. I had a couple about 20 years ago, a 350 and a 380. One of the great usable classics. yes

Andy - Will do, may have to wait until next year though!

Jas, thanks - the only one I think that's keen on the wheels also!

Beautiful car, but dreadful steering wheel and alloys. At least they can be easily swapped.

Stunning car, really like it yes

The wheels though, they are far too big for the car.

Edit: To add balance, I like the steering wheel.

Car - lovely

Wheels - horrid

Steering wheel - horrid.

Change all 5 wheels for something more OE and it'll be lovely.

That is a gorgeous looking SL, I really do need to buy one myself! I hope you get many years of Mercedes waftiness out of it!

I've fancied a "Dallas" Merc SL (R107) for years. My elderly neighbour has a beauty, an 89 300SL in red with cream leather, all original. Just waiting for him to die so I can take advantage of his distraught wife hehe

I'd prefer a 6 cylinder. Those cars aren't about speed for me, just wafting around, so may as well do it as economically as possible.

OP, get shot of those wheels and get some original ones back on it.

I found the straight six about as uneconomical as the V8 as it has to work harder. Might as well go for the full fat V8!
