Traded my Polo in today against this:
As much as I'd have liked to have kept the Polo, it was too small, and with my new found hobby of bike track days I needed something bigger to take all the stuff associated with it to and from tracks. This seems to do the job perfectly.
It's a lot more dull than the Polo to drive, nice enough though. Comfy, fairly quick and seriously good on fuel. I was going to go for a GTI but having heard lots of complaints due to the fuel consumption on them, and the fact that I've pretty much doubled the mileage I was doing, I decided to avoid it. This should do me for 18 months or until RS3s have depreciated into my daily driver price bracket!
It's going back in next week to have cruise control, the 6 CD touch screen media thingy and a detachable towbar installed. Also going to get the black bits on the wheels powdercoated in silver in the near future. A remap could also be on the cards - apparently 170bhp/350nm -> 215bhp/400nm Sounds tempting.

You'd really think though that on a car of this type, and with it's particular target market, that cruise control would be standard. Crazy world!

Cruise control was advertised on the car when I enquired about it, as was the touch screen media thing, so they're getting fitted FOC.
I just feel like I've died inside slightly having got a diesel! First one I've ever owned.

My bike is now fully repaired!
It's the only reason I bought the Golf to be honest, I would have kept the Polo if I didn't need to tow a trailer and carry a load of stuff!

I may be wrong, but you gave the impression that you were after a change anyway and the minor problems that you encountered early on in the Polo ownership which hindered the enjoyment if it somewhat. Again, I could be wrong.

Had loads of little niggles with the Polo when I first got it. Ranging from the gearbox breaking on the day I picked it up (a loose connection apparently), the water pump needing replacing, iPod connectivity not working properly and the ridiculously high oil consumption (1 litre per 700 miles at its worst). The oil consumption thing seemed to be sorted with the oil breather pipe upgrade, however over the last 2000 miles it was back to 1 litre/750 miles. I do quite miss it though!

Thanks I prefer the other style wheels too, but pretty rare to find a car with them specced to be honest. I'm either going to powdercoat the black bits of the wheels silver, or may replace them with some BBS Monzas off a Golf GTI. Lazygraduate said:

Yeah, it is just to get from A-B (and seems very good at it), the Aston is the car for special occasions/enjoyment. It probably won't be going anywhere until the new year though JayT said:
If you are thinking about changing your alloys, would you consider Ed35 wheels?
The dealers had an edition 35 in the showroom, it had the worst alloys I think I've ever seen! Black with a silver bit round the outside I don't know if they do any other options on the Edition 35.
Good choice! I've got one as a company car. Since april I've done 30.000 km's in it. If you're thinking about changing the wheels, the 18" Vancouver wheels were a factory fit option on GTD's here in Holland:
Are you going for a genuine VW tow bar? If so, can you post up some pics when you get it?

It's not a genuine VW towbar (I wasn't aware they did them?). My local VW dealer just send all their cars to a trailer/towbar place near me and charge markup on it so I'm going direct to them. Saves about £80 and is still all covered with VW warranty etc. I'll post a pic up when it's done

Oooh I likey, one of the better looking 5 door cars at the moment and I'm going to trade my A3 sline 8P in for one early next year. 170 TDi with a remap will do nicley wirh a set of 30mm H&R'sAre you going for a genuine VW tow bar? If so, can you post up some pics when you get it?

I wouldn't lower my car as I don't see any point, but am quite tempted by a remap. 215bhp/400nm sounds good Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
