The BMW was ok for the first month or so.. put a huge grin on my face because it had been remapped up to 258 rwbhp (320 ci)

i'd say you might be off a bit with this one.. nice car though smile

no point in having a sensible car, i was 23 when i picked up a MG zt 260, mustang engined RWD MG, was good at the time, but like you had a failed relationship so used a house deposit to buy another not sensible car a TVR cerbera. Not looked back since, bank balance has taken a hit a few times, but let the good times roll and worry about them things come payday

Wanted a xkr when i got the MG, would still consider one.

Lots of different cars there! I like the mini!

Forgive me, maybe I'm confused but how does a 320CI get 258rwbhp?

Here's some very rough calculations (PH masses correct me if I'm out!)

I'd hazard about 20% transmission losses. The range is often 12-20%.

So 20% of 258 is 52 so the car would have a little over 200bhp although that is very high for a remap on a non-turbo car, it would of probably been less 180bhp max assuming the car was a 170bhp model and with exceptionally high miles, probably a fair bit less than that.

Lots of variables here including optimistic dyno's but its clear you couldn't have got 30bhp increase from a remap, if you got 10bhp you'd be lucky.

Still I am a big fan of the BMW and the brand in general.

As for the bimmer, the remap was done a year after it was bought, perhaps there were other bits bought for the car, i dont know though because there wasnt a lot of receipts with the car.. but like you said there are loads of variables in it.. but i do know it was a fair bit quicker then a standard 320.. me and a friend with one like mine were being a little childish on a straight bit of road.. i shall leave you to use your imagination on that.

Fair enough smile

You've had about as many cars in 5 years as I've had in 14!

smile

Top lurking by the way!

I have always really thought of most of my cars as tools rather than anything more. Although my Impreza RB5 is the only car I've ever had an attachment too and its also the most troublesome. I don't mind though as I've been viewing it as a project!

I've had some company cars before and they were super boring!

Cool collection

What was done to the MX5 to get 200bhp?

Also the XJR will be a 4.0 by the way unless your after the x350? If so fair play

Nice set of cars, but there is no way in hell that your 320ci would make 200bhp let alone 258bhp! Remap or not.

Thanks everyone
the mx5 was supercharged.. should really have mentioned that earlier

and yes, the xjr i want is the x350. I was looking at the x308r for quite some time, but the 4.2 car is now coming up at reasonable prices, so im going to purchase one of them instead.

Does anybody know what i should be looking out for on these cars, there isnt much information on the Jaguar forum

Your insurance company must love you switching between so many new cars through the years. I know I always seem to get stung changing over to a new car mid way through a policy.

nice collection you've had! cool

Allegro, Minis and an MG... there's a lot of CLASS there!

Also, Minis are sensible cars, they're pretty economical and easy to park. What's more sensible than that?

In all my years driving (6 years) i only have 2 years NCB, not due to claiming, just down to cancelling policies and changing cars.. its worth it though.. really is..

Minis are a lot of things.. sensible might not be one of them.. well, at least not by the time iv finished messing about with them hahaha.

Once I have my Jaguar and i know how much itll cost to own, ill then know how much spare money ill have, IF its enough im going to buy my self a little project.. however, i doubt ill have that much spare money..
