Great car history I too love the Mini's (not that I'm biased). Try asking on a few Mini forums if its still about you never know.

One thing the red Mini would have been a MKIII they had the same style rear lights as the MKII (I have a 69 MKII which was the last year the MKII was produced)

And what is wrong with the way its written?

Downton mini, thanks! are you are TMF? i recognise the user name.
Iv asked about a few times but nobody seems to know its where abouts. I have checked on the DVLA website and that has shown its still about, but its limited info (data protection and all that)

Nice set of cars, but there is no way in hell that your 320ci would make 200bhp let alone 258bhp! Remap or not.
Indeed. I think he may have been spun a yarn by the previous owner.

"Rolleyes"?

Yes it's very well written in my opinion.

It attracted my attention and held it. When I reached the end of the post I could have read more. No, it's not a blockbuster in the making; but it was interesting nevertheless. Unlike your thread on your new car, where you intersperse a large number of frankly quite normal pictures (with a couple of maybe slightly interesting ones) and just 8 sentences. One sentence being 'this is my car thread' and the last being "comments welcome".

Therefore I give this thread 8/10 for readability and interest.

Now of course if you mean that there were a few spelling and grammatical errors, then say so and don't be facetious with quotnig my comment. I would point out however that proper sentence construction is just as important, if you're really going to be pedantic.

I a on TMF but haven't been on for a while to be honest I get fed up with all the arguments on there.

I'm sure there was a website set up you could enter details of cars you'd owned and wanted to find again but I don't remember the name

Thanks for this.
I agree this isn't a blockbuster, but its written how i speak, and yes i do tend to go on a little and add a few too many words to my sentences. However, I put this up to entertain! All my friends laugh when i go on about my cars, and cars in general! but this is a good laughter!

OK like you say the spelling is a little dodgy and my grammar is about the same, but i would rather people bring this to my attention then write a pointless comment and then not back it up!!

I hope my thread and future threads will keep people smiling and cause interest, and if you find it not to your taste just leave, im not forcing you to read the bloody thing!

Downton mini, i know that website, the red mini is registered with it, but iv not had any luck on it.
I agree, when i was on TMF it was a lovely place to be, really friendly people, but something changed very quickly.. they got all anal with other peoples cars, tell them how they should restore them, and that their cars were 'god awful' and 'ruined' and then justified their comments by saying things like 'do you know how rare these cars are' or 'you cant do that because everyone will hate you and the poor little car your attacking with the chav stick'

And yes, the arguments.. mostly over silly little things, i remember a thread going on for 20+ pages because somebody wanted to restore a mini and spray it a colour that wasn't available on the date the car was launched!

I go on every now and then, but its not the same place any more

(i do hope all spelling and grammar is to the correct standards)

Scoticus don't worry about it.
I thought it was an enjoyable read and others will too.
There are a lot of people on here that have nothing better to do than pick holes in other people's threads.

Carry on!!

I never said it wasn't an enjoyable read - I enjoyed it enough to comment and say I was looking forward to seeing the Jag!

I was merely frustrated with the vacuous 'well written' comment. The post was enjoyable, informative, entertaining, but not well written. I may have been picking holes, but it wasn't with the OP.

I'm not having a go at the OP - doesn't matter to me if it was well written or not. As long as everyone enjoys it smile

Really? Vacuous??

Why don't you read my response? As far as I'm concerned it was well written. Since when does 'well written' cover spelling and grammar only?

Facetious comment indeed.

I'm not saying that if a post has good spelling and grammar, it is, by default, 'well written'.

What I'm saying is I believe that something with poor spelling and grammar cannot be well written. It can be informative, enjoyable, entertaining, yes. The OP's post was all of those and I liked reading it. But with poor spelling and grammar, I don't see how you can call it well written.

Look, I didn't mean to cause offence. I apologise, I'm just being a pedant.

Let's leave it and let the thread get back on topic and enjoy the cars.

Im confused, what has my apparent 'poor spelling' got to do with it?

And just to add, you sir are the sort of internet grammar Natzi that ruins excellent forums!
Im sick of people like you picking on tiny faults when everybody else has enjoyed what has been written!

I will admit that my spelling and grammar is not up there at genius level. But at the time you decided to mock it, did you consider there could be a reason?

I highly doubt you did, but here it is, i have dyslexia! However, this has never stopped me trying my very best with writting and entertaining!

On a further note, even with this condition i achieved incredibly high grades in my education, especially in English. In which i got the highest grade my school AND college had seen! This however showy and big headed it sounds is my proudest moment

I am now studying for my MA in English, but as you can imagine, this is very difficult and i have to work incredibly hard!

But im sorry my informal and friendly thread has errors in it, and it doesnt match you exacting standards!

I use forums like this to relax and take my mind off studying...i must remember im not entitled to do this and must remain hard working to ensure all spelling and grammar it correct..

Wud u prefer if i tlked lyk dis init?

I dont think you would, at the very least you could appreciate my attempt and making it correct!

for everybody else, thank you for your kind words, and im sorry about my ranting.
Im aware this doesnt make me seem as nice as mkst, i just hope you can understand how frustrating it is when my weakest point is picked out and paraded in front of everybody.

And yes, i did have to check how to spell several of them words
