Another car....another BMW at last.... 120d
Discussion
So after 6 months owning a Fiesta TDCi 1.4 , which had replaced a 2.0 petrol Mazda 6, I was pretty underwhelmed by it and wanted something newer or more interesting.
Having had an E46, I fancied another 3 series, but upon my car shopping trip I was left disappointed by the 2004-2005-2006 cars on sale within a decent radius. I also looked at a couple of diesel X-Types, the newer shape Civic Type S GT and Audi TT.
In the end I was in a dealer looking at a 3 series (awful - stank of farts inside!) when the valet chap brought out a grey 1 series he'd just finished, new into stock.
Dark grey metallic, full leather, clean enough, demo plus one owner, FSH, 52k, sport model and the proper 120d rather than a 118d.... deal was done with the Fiesta as trade-in (didnt lose anything on it after 6 months / 6k miles) , the BMW was sent off for a fresh MOT (it had 9 months, but I insisted on a full one), being picked up next day.
I've now covered a few hundred miles in it. Really quite rapid for a 2.0 diesel hatch, comfortable inside, all the toys I need and a nice drive. It likes a drink of diesel but driving like a granny through to Glasgow with the trip computer reset proved all was well and it was just my enjoying of all these lbs/ft of torque that's been causing lower mpg than originally anticipated !
Anyway, I've not washed it yet, as you'll see....
Plans for the car ? First up a good wash this week - its just been polished by the dealer so I'll see what it needs, maybe just a clean and wax before the real cold stuff sets in. I've ordered gliptone to keep the seats in top condition and I'll get a fresh set of mats from Amazon or Ebay after Christmas - dont know why, just like to put my own mats in a car! Oh and the PH window sticker has arrived, just need to decide where its going.
The picture makes the interior look lighter than it is - the leather is grey and the plastic is standard dark grey/charcoal with carbon inserts on the console, across the dash and the door handles (factory option along with the leather seen as it was a demo car?).
I should keep this one a few years....

Its a 2006/06. There is literally not a scratch on it that I could find. My work car park will change that soon probably !
What was enticing me towards the Jag was the full leather, in dash Sat Nav and that it was a 2.2d rather than the 2.0.... although after seeing the two within 30 mins in the tin, think I made the right choice

Bah, surely the extra weight of the Jag would've cancelled most if not all of the extra performance in the 200cc between the two? Oh yeh, you definitely made the right choice IMO. Enjoy it What was enticing me towards the Jag was the full leather, in dash Sat Nav and that it was a 2.2d rather than the 2.0.... although after seeing the two within 30 mins in the tin, think I made the right choice
