Awesome project, very jealous.

Strangely though, your ideads are similar to what I have in mind for the 1971 Morris Minor in the back garden.... I.E. de-bumpering, clean the paint up, lowered etc.

Keep it up!

Bought these the other day:

They're rough at best, but they were cheap and all they need is a refurb and possibly a ding removing, should look lovely once fitted.

Some parts arrived this weekend smile

New front wings, and repair panels for the lower rear quarter.

(piss poor iPhone camera)

Yet again, this whole 'E21 thing' has come up with a pleasant surprise.

I ordered the parts from Wallothnesch, a German company who specialise in old BMW parts. Along with the wings came their brochure, which is potentially one of the handiest things I've had yet for this car:

Parts diagrams for the entire car. Everything is listed, and at the back it's all priced up.

Tremendous smile

What a quality parts catalogue. That'll make things nice and easy... and a good way for that company to keep taking your € from you. wink

Look forward to the updates. smile

Tonight saw the start of the final push to have the car ready for Saturday.

Windows removed, rubbers, seals and trims all removed. Sunroof and door hardware has also all be taken off the car.

Also, the all important areas are free of any corrosion.

Lower windscreen corner:

The rear windows are also completely fine.

Next few evenings will be busy ones, but it's all very exciting now smile

Mine went to be sand blasted last week.

Hope you'll be able to bring yours to this? We want to get as many UK e21 as possible!

  • * Progress Update***
I went down to the bodyshop this morning to catch up with Lee and how the car is doing, he's made good progress and I'm now very excited for it to be finished and back with me!

Doors:

Lower valance smoothed off for a cleaner front end:

Bonnet, which is like the face of the moon really, Lee is working wonders on it though:

Repaired lower chassis rail:

Remember the big hole in the passenger footwell? All gone:

Few bits and pieces around the car:

New lower rear quarter:

The hole behind the pedals, all welded and sealed up smile

New arch to inner wing join:

And a couple of the car as a whole smile

All very exciting!

I'll go back next weekend to see it again, by which point it should be primed and ready for paint smile

Good work. I'm liking the smoothed front valance.

How's the chrome on your bumpers? It's going to be a lovely example once finished.

Went down to Body and Design today to catch up with Lee and the progress on the car.

All looking good, base colour is due to go on next week, ready for collection on Good Friday.

Smoothed front valance is looking well too. Very excited for that.

Not long now smile

Most excellent - nice that it was reasonably solid to start with

I love the fact that there is good parts availability with older BMW's

Is that a bronze colour, never thought it'd work so well on a car.. Be awesome to see the final product. smile

Yeah it's called Topazbraun Metallic, it was an option colour on the car back in 1977, so it's an original colour smile
