It's funny how E21s seem to be getting more popular all of a sudden, they were quite overlooked until recently....
Trying to get as many e21 as possible here...

For corrosion protection I recommend the products from Bilt Hamber, market leaders for the quality of product in my opinion

Yeah I love their stuff.

I'll be covering all the exposed sections in some underseal that I have in the post atm. I simply wanted to get some paint on the metal, as an added barrier.

The postman came today smile

Hopefully the new control arms will come tomorrow smile

Also, picking the doors up tomorrow too, then I'm done for collecting panels and bits smile

Collected the doors today, I'm sure my mum will be chuffed when she finds all this in the front room biggrin

Back of the valance is now undersealed:

Chassis front end painted black:

Fuel filler cap fitted, needs a little bit of tweaking before it fits perfectly:

Did a test fit of the boot seal and I seem to have found where it was leaking, I've siliconed it up, so once that's dry tomorrow I'll know if it's worth keeping the seal or not.

The weather has been amazing today, clear skies and lovely, warm sun.

So naturally that meant a day on the BMW.

The boot seal fix "appears" to have worked, so time will be the ultimate test.

The rubber was cleaned with eraser and then sealed with Wolfs Trim Coat:

Plastic trim was über grubby:

Cleaned with eraser and dried with a heat gun:

I still wasn't happy though as there was some overspray from a previous respray:

So I gave it a good coat of black paint.

While that was drying, I cleaned up the boot lock/mechanism:

Nice and clean, again Wolfs Trim Coat on the plastic seal:

Boot badge cleaned up and treated with Wolfs Trim Coat:

All together:

Boot took a bit of a fiddle to get it aligned and not catching on the lock, but it's 99% bob on now smile

Got a few little bits sorted tonight:

Paint stripped the horn:

Started sifting through the various bags of bits for the car, this isn't even all of them either:

Lower grilles cleaned up and painted black.

I had great intentions that this would be an awesome weekend of progress on the BMW, unfortunately I only got anything done on it today frown

Bought the headlining material from Segals in Salford, awesome place tbh, more choice than you could ever need! I'll get some pictures of that tomorrow.

Actual progress;

Started recovering the loom, the old tape is all dry and crusty and really needs replacing, so I'll redo the whole loom.

From:

To:

Decided to get the front end on too.

Looking goofy:

More Plastikote Satin:

And finally, my debumpered E21 smile

As I expected, I love it! It harks back to the 2002 in so many ways, and really accentuates that sharknose!

So excited to get it finished now!

I'll get some more photos of the Plastikote next time I'm doing some smile

Cheers for the link.

As promised, some photos of the headlining.

It's quite difficult to capture the colour and texture, but you get the idea. It's a foam backed nylon material in a charcoal shade.

Will start making it soon, using my old headlining as a template.
