My funny Fiat Barchetta
Discussion
Looks great. The road trips look fun and I would love to do one up into Sweden/Norway, maybe next summer, to visit family/friends. My Dad has a red one that's on around 30K and looks almost new still, especially the interior and under the bonnet. It's not on the road atm, and would only ever be a sunny weather car, but I have seen one locally that looks interesting as a more usable proposition
Out of interest, do the stickers on the boot cover lacquer peel? A few cars have it there - presumably similar paint to my flakey Alfa.

Got back tonight from another roadtrip in this car.
2935 miles in 13 days to Belgium,Germany, through Austria ,a week in Italy and home yesterday,Thursday in one hit.
Left a village near Lucca,Tuscany about 5.15am,drove up to Monte Bianco tunnel and into France, arrived in Calais port
about 13 1/2 hours and 850 odd miles later.
This is a remarkable little car that takes a lot of punishment.

No earplugs.
It does have a fruity exhaust note that isn't intrusive at all.
I did forget to mention above that the hood was down the entire trip from Italy to Calais and then Dover to home.
The wind rushing by keeps me awake/alert.
It tried to rain on the run up to the French coast but it came to nothing and I didn't have to stop to put hood up.

Some random location pics.
This recreates the pic of a Ford on my first trip to Italy in 2006.
At the "Ponte della Maddalena" or Devils bridge in Borgo a Mozzano.
I drive into the car park at the Cassa Enzo Ferrari museum ,Modena and naturally park next to a British Dino.
In a car park field at Mugello,I wasn't the last one left there just good framing

That's my old car, the pic was taken in 2002. When I had the car it had alloys and I fitted a DTR exhaust but not the quad pipes it has now. I sold it on to a friend who left it parked up and it got a series of parking dings. I think he then sold it back to to DTR.
Good to see it is still around.

Hi.....
I have your name written down in my little book of car stuff as one of the previous owners from the V5.
If you have read the posts in this thread you will see I am enjoying this car ENORMOUSLY.
When I got it from DTR, they had completely refurbished it, with a new hood and respray ,so any dings
your friend got on it were removed....

Today I have owned this car for 4 years.
I have done another 10,000 miles this year.
I have now done over 40,000 miles in total and the speedo is showing over 100,000 again.
It'd actually done over 120,000 miles but Speedo been changed more than once with second-hand replacement.
It'a not all good news, last week's MOT came up with some expensive advisories,so this time next year could be worse news.
The heater matrix is leaking and it's a long job dismantling the inside to get it out,so for the moment it's going to stay put.
I'll now post a few location pics from my Euro trips.
A day trip to Autoworld Brussels.
For Italian car passion with an excellent display of rare stuff.
In May it was off to Italy ,via Belgium,Germany,Austria.
World RX at Mettet.
The Technik museums at Speyer above ans Sinsheim below.
Next Stuttgart for Mercedes and Porsche.
Arese,Milano means Alfa Romeo museum.
My fingers are cold,I'll finish this later.

Then I had to go back the way I came on a sodden Autostrada to Brescia
for the start of the Mille Miglia .
After a rest day,it's time to go find the Mille Miglia on its way back up north from Rome.
But first a stop in Pontedera to go in the Piaggio museum, which is free to enter btw.
Here I am near a junction just south of Poggibonsi.
Next day, join the massive queue for Italian moto GP
Last day out on this trip, off to Modena for Enzo Ferrari museum.
Where they also had 2 short films projected onto the wall.
Then off to Santa Agata.
Home of Lamborghini......A Sesto Elemento.
Reventon.
And then further east to the Ferruccio Lamborghini museum.
And a Ferruchio built barchetta.
Total miles on this trip 2935.
2 more trips n pics to go.
