Nice, will be very understated...hoping you will go for the full OEM look now, including wheels.

Absolutely the plan is to make the car look like BMW had offered an E91 M3 version.

It certainly is, new exhaust hangers on Saturday and a pair of new lemfjoder drop links on Monday.

Really just needs some paint and the wheels done now

In the name of OEM spec and 'stealth' I say no carbon - the saloon doesn't have one!

Surely this is not a valid argument when there was no factory e91 M3?

Personally, I think it would look good but the cost wouldn't be worth it seeing as it's Jerez Black, it wouldn't be too noticeable. Also, surely the car being painted already indicates that perhaps a carbon roof isn't on the cards.

You're obviously an ambitious chap, so how about dropping in an X drive 4x4 system smile

It's nice to be able to think of the pros & cons, but...

But if the coupe has one then is it not an OEM part?

As no one makes a carbon roof for the touring I would have to commission one. There is no guarantee that I'd get something that I'm happy with and also the tailgate would have to fix to it so things could get complicated.

Whilst I appreciated the carbon roof on my old E92 M3 (before someone stole it) I'm guessing that there will be no performance benefit to this build. My car shares a lot of E90 M3 parts as the E92 M3 items don't actually fit so in my mind having a steel roof like the M3 saloon is not really a problem.

Although I'm trying to build this to a high standard, I am going to use it in anger. It won't be a show car and I plan to use it on some european road trips next summer.

Hope to post some more pics of the respray later ;-)

Great project, will be looking forward to this being completed. BMW's error is not making cars like this. That and the lack of E46 M3 saloon.

The closest was the concept..........

And someones interpretation of a E46 M3 SMG Touring from another forum.

Would have been a great alternative to the C36 AMG Estate & B5 RS4 from the same period.

That's my shot of the E46 M3 touring built to an incredibly high standard and built as close to factory spec as possible
