Any update to this project? Would love to hear the next chapter
Apologies for the lack of posts. I will try and post some more photos this week showing progress. The project however is still on going, work commitments have limited my time unfortunately.During the last 12 months I have been obtaining most of the parts that I need to complete the build (including a full E90 m3 interior and modules from one car as I needed to find a matching ECU and CAS unit together with clocks and other items such as the EKP fuel pump and DSC/Steering angle sensor so that it will make life easier!).
Presently most of the E92 M3 running gear for the front end of the car is now in. I have fitted the front subframe, steering rack, suspension, brakes, heat shields, oil lines for DCT, M3 brake master cylinder and DSC unit.
My plan is to install the complete rear axle and M3 fuel tank in the next week along with fuel lines.
I have just taken the interior apart so that I can install the E92 M3 body harness that I have to try and get the car running before I modify the wiring (splicing in rear doors, removing seat belt butlers etc...)

Short update. Dash now removed so that original wiring harness can be replaced. This necessitated removal of the steering column and reinforcement bar so that the HVAC system can be removed as wiring runs directly behind which I needed access to.
Started to run E92 M3 harness into engine bay for a trial fit as it's looking like some further bodywork modifications are required as earth pins/brackets are either missing or in the wrong location.
Wiring connectors hooked up to M3 reservoir tank.
Wiring along offside chassis leg after connecting up various components in that location.

What does the M3 loom have that the original doesn't?
Any modules the original car didn't have could of been added and coded in which would of been a lot less work, especially as you've got to add rear doors and other stuff that are unique to the E91
There are quite a few connector changes between the M3 harness and the original. There are also additional components in the engine bay (brake booster, water pump, EDC sensors, servotronic steering etc) that I have to deal with. Also the main connector block from the body harness for the M3 engine is different to the original 325 version and also as my car did not have xenon lights I would still have had to change all of the wiring for the headlamp level sensors and wash system as well.Any modules the original car didn't have could of been added and coded in which would of been a lot less work, especially as you've got to add rear doors and other stuff that are unique to the E91
As I also did not have sat nav the dash was coming out anyway and as I'm fitting the EDC system as well as power seats it made sense to me to go down this route.
Thanks

What year harness was your donor car? realoem lists two separate harness part numbers - pre and post-LCI. Curious if you know what the difference would be between the two?
According to dealership techs that I have talked to, harnesses are custom built when ordering them via parts.
My loom is an LCI one.According to dealership techs that I have talked to, harnesses are custom built when ordering them via parts.
Mine has active headrest the pre LCI loom cars didn't have that feature.
The headrest move forward in a rear accident.
All the sat Nav and rear lights change on LCI but as far as I know the plugs are all the same

Can I ask - do the shocks, springs, suspension arms, hubs, brakes and all the related bits just bolt on to the e91?
Yes, all the parts you have listed bolt straight on. The only adjustment I had to make was fitting the front subframe. There were 2 tabs on the bodyshell which the old wheel arch liners screw to that need to be removed. In terms of the rear I have everything from an m3 fitted and everything lines up.
Cheers

Any updates OP ?
Apologies for the lack of updates. The car has spent the summer months at Redish Motorsport having the mechanical swap to full E9x spec. It is now 100% complete mechanically.I will post a more detailed update of the work performed as it became fairly extensive as Reddish used their E90 M3 as a reference in making things 100% the same as any other E9x M3

dechrome is asap!
I'm not sure about the chrome front grille either now that it's done. I was contemplating getting a bmw performance grill to make the car look more aggressive as I quite like the front end look as per the attached with the side grilles being painted Melbourne red like the E90 CRT.dechrome is asap!
Also the 260M alloys are going to be swapped for black GTS alloys next year as I fancy a change so will be up for sale.
