Hi Guys,

Just thought i'd share the latest updates to my Focus RS. I've not really pushed for the massive power that people seem to be doing, just a collection of components that enhance the drivability and capability on the track. Overall, the car is very composed and the power delivery is progressive and without issue, generally. The only time i tend to lose traction is in very wet weather, but that can be worked around by being more progressive with your foot. Cornering wise, it has masses of grip, and even if the nose eventually slides wide, lifting off the throttle gives a good amount of controllable oversteer that pushes the nose back on line. It's the longest i've owned a car, at 3yrs, so that says something about it! It's not just used on the road, i attend as many track days as i can and hope to get on the track more often in the future. So on to the spec.

Software:

Bosch ME9 ECU running SCC Performance Stage Two 350S Mapping

Engine:

Denso Iridium Spark Plugs
SCC Performance Air Intake System (C/w K&N Xtreme Filter)
Miltek Turbo Back Decat Exhaust
Locking Exhaust Bolts (To ensure the bolts don't tear out as they do under load on standard exhausts too)
Vibratechnics Torque Link

Chassis & Brakes:

BC Racing BR Series Coilovers
H&R 20mm Spacers F/R
KSport 356mm 8 Pot Front Brake Kit Fitted with EBC Bluestuff Pads
EBC Yellowstuff Pads in the standard RS rear calliper
Goodridge Braided Lines F/R
Ferrodo DOT5.1 Fluid

Bodywork:

SCC Performance Decal Pack
TRS Tow Straps F/R

Now for a few photos! There isn't that much post processing in these photos, over the majority all that is applied is a graduated filter to darken the sky and a bit of a vignette.

Love the car, love it's subtlety, love the spec....not a fan of the big ass SCC stick down the side though.

I like it a lot in blue.

I'm not sure on what appears to be a new crazy in spacers.. Don't think it looks good at all, just like your wheels don't fit! That's just my opinion though.

Are the coilovers really any better than the standard set up or was it mainly for aesthetics?

Rest of it is real nice.

The benefit i've found of the coilovers is a much increased grip in cornering, allowing much more speed to be carried and allowing you to get on the power quicker exiting the corner too, although that is a combined effect generated with the geo too. The standard setup is very good, but well set up coilovers blow it out of the water.

Ref the spacers, mine are required to fit the KSports under the OEM wheels, and i felt that it looked silly having a wider track at the front than the rear. Eventually i'll place an order for some custom offset Silver Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2s, removing the need for spacers, but money is tight. I loved TDs on my VXR and don't really want to detract too much from the OEM look of the RS.

I love the fact you've kept the OE look. Someone could come up behind you and think its a standard one.
More surprise i say! smile

Love the colour, it's my favourite out of them.

Very nice, blue is still my fave for these, but then I would say that because I had one.

Went down to SCC a few times when I had mine, nice bunch of people.

Very tidy looking. Would be interested to hear how the Avon ZV5's? Hold up? Not well I guess.

Not sure if you've misread the tyre wall, they're ZZ5, But it's actually the opposite! I thought they would be a bit crap in this weather, but they aren't too bad. Used them on the track several times too and can't really fault them. I've got a set of Michelin Super Sports I got cheap going on when these eventually run down, so will be able to give a proper run down between the two compounds. From what i know, MSS are Soft compound and ZZ5 are Medium.

Love the car but sorry not the stickers. I bought one 3 years ago and although I liked blue it had to be green for me. Its one of the best cars I've owned, I miss it.

No but it was enough of a kerb to make the whole car shake. I kind of ruined her for driving normal cars, she hates the clutches in any other car and hates not having power etc lol
