E28 - the long slog

No, in the standard location on the N/S.
On a RHD E28 there's a linkage from the pedals that goes across the cabin side of the bulkhead and operates the servo. I guess it was a quick way to develop the RHD version, but it ain't pretty, and that linkage needs to be kept lubricated. The clutch master cylinder is on the OS, with a hydraulic line going across the bulkhead in the engine bay to the slave cylinder.

Little bit of painting today.
Bottom half of the fuel tank has had a coat of POR-15:
Diff case has had primer and a coat of satin black:
The Clio servo has had a tidy up, too.
Going to leave the tank to dry overnight, then tomorrow night I'll do the top half. The bottom will get a decent coat of stonechip afterwards.
M50 manifold is here:
And I've done a quick test-fit to check that the wheels will clear the brakes - and they will, just:

That only really happens when left empty for long periods. If you park it up leave it with a full tank and it'll be fine.
I won't remember to do that, or I'll think I'm leaving it for a day and end up not using it for 6 months.Again, for the sake of a few quid...
You need an organic paint filter mask. Possibly one rated for P3 particles, but check. That will solve the problems, a simple dust mask won't cut it.
Not sure, I like the size of the bills I don't get that way
Anyway, onwards.
Old fuel tank out:
It's actually not in horrendous condition:
Still best to change it. I've now got 25 litres of fuel I don't really want to re-use. If anyone's got any bright ideas on how to get rid of it without burning down the neighbourhood, I'm all ears...
New tank looks much nicer, now with two coats of POR15 and two of stonechip:
Rear axle is back off. It's taken a bit of a beating, so it'll get re-done:
Plus the trailing arms still need doing:
Pump and filter off:
Starting to strip the fuel and brake lines, but the screws for the pipe holders are going to need an overnight soak in PlusGas before they'll shift:
Boot floor is looking OK above the fuel tank:
So, getting there. Hopefully I'll get time tomorrow to get the pipes off, then I can start cleaning up the underside. Also need to order the heatshield that goes on the side of the fuel tank, next to the exhaust.
Unwanted growth on the steering wheel:
Current state of the engine:
How the car's looking at the mo:
