E28 - the long slog
Discussion
The diff build is now complete, so I collected it this morning.
...and took it straight up to where the racecar is being stored, ready to fit onto that
It's only a temporary measure though, as the plan is to build a 3.91 LSD in a 188 case for the race car, and then get this diff back for the ex-518i.
Still, it's all progress!

Almost non-E28 update (although it is really) - passed the B+E test today, so next week I'll legally be able to use this:
to get the 518i down to the bodyshop.
Which means I need to re-attach the steering at some point.
In other E28 news, once the 518i is out of my garage the M5 is going in for a bit of love - the plan is a new fuel tank, fuel lines and brake lines, refurb of the front and rear axles (check bushes, strip, paint etc) and then I think it'll get a repaint - it needs a new front wing plus it has a few little dents and scrapes that can all get sorted in one hit.
The other E28 (are you keeping up at the back?) gets its first proper outing on Saturday at the Bedford GT circuit. The 3.62 diff is now on, and it's all ready to go. As this is the first time I've driven it properly (and really it's a shakedown) I'm not expecting miracles, but we'll see how it goes. It has needed a new battery, so an Oddyssey 20 is here to go on it. The M5 also needed a new battery this week - I guess the cold weather really kills off weak ones.
More to follow in due course...

Well, it's another three really
What've you got, mister?
Its an E28 535iSE, oddly listed on the V5 as an M535i. owned it nearly ten years now. I bought it on ebay with a little tax and MoT left just to get a set of doors and a dogleg for one of the two E12 M535is i owned then, but fell in love with the thing on the trip home from the back of beyond nothwest of Preston to Sussex! So instead of being stripped for spares, it got all it's insulation removed, the Recaro interior sold, a perspex rear screen, E12M535i side glass, E12 manual window regulators in the front doors, an alloy fuel tank, cage, seats and six point harnesses, powervamp battery, which is still going strong despite being stored far too much! A very good friend of mine used the car for the Pomeroy Trophy at Silverstone in 2009, and it has been in storage since until i got into sorting out the rear end properly underneath as in the pic! Coming out to play soon. Will always stay road legal, but race/hillclimb/sprint ready too. An interior shot taken a very long time ago! What've you got, mister?
