2 years, 3rd car & 2nd MX5. 95' MK1 California 1.8
Discussion
Been a while since I was last here.
Since then I've learnt a bit more about cars and infact I'm currently on a light vehicle maintenance & repair course at college having decided I want to do this as a job, which also comes with the handy side effect of allowing me access to a pretty well equipped workshop
It's almost that time of year when I need to renew my insurance for the next year and so I need to get onto a short list of jobs that I reckon need to be completed on my chosen chariot for the year. But before that, some pictures.
As the title says, A 1995 MK1 1.8 California edition, one of 300 produced and currently on 125k miles.
The short list of jobs involve:
Changing the wheels and tyres. (downsizing from 16" to 15" and replacing the half worn tyres)
Getting a new replacement roof fitted as the plastic screen has faded and split. Not to mention the roof as a whole is generally tatty.
Fitting new brake pads at the very least and maybe discs depending on condition/funds. (been an advisory on the last two MOTs for it, inbetween which it covered about 5k miles)
And then the less important stuff:
Radio doesn't work, drivers side window doesn't work & the seats are tatty.
I reckon, get the car into a decent shape this year and then start saving up for the good stuff.

Are those wheels in the pic the 16" wheels? If so I could be interested in buying them should you want to sell them?
Yes they are the 16" ones. Oz Superleggeras I think.I won't be needing them after I've found some 15"s so they will be for sale.
I know they're lightweight but if I remember correctly it costs about twice as much per tyre as if I swapped to 15" & the car is supposed to ride and handle better on 15"s as well.
Ordered a set of 4 Uniroyal Rainsport 2s from Camskill, they should hopefully arrive tomorrow. Just need to find a set of wheels for them to go onto, hopefully a set of relatively lightweight and cheap wheels from a MK2 or something.
Also took the opportunity while I had the debit card out to order a offset number plate bracket and a pair of PH smileys.
