1989 VW Passat 1.8 CL - Panzer Edition
Discussion
Thought I'd post some details up of the car which me and a few friends used last year to take part in the Ramshackle Valencia Rally for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Had an absolutely fantastic time, both getting the car ready and on the rally itself.
I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...
We started out with a blue 1989 VW Passat CL. This is how it looked after it's first coat of paint (Masonry Paint, Ivory, applied with a brush, natch)...
Next, we did this...
And then started this...
Can you guess what it is yet?
Taking shape....
Now, for some 'modification' to make it functional...
Can you see what's mounted on the boot here?
That's right....
So, off we set on our 3,500 mile round trip to Valencia. We spent a long week-end with some like-minded nutters racing to Valencia, stayed for La Tomatina and then hammered home in 36 hours. Suffice to say, the car didn't skip a beat despite the abuse we gave it. Here are some gratuitous shots from the trip...
And on the way home (streamlined and with cabin-ventilation)...

LOL! What happened to the car after?
Due to the hole in the roof, we scrapped it (for £10 less than we originally paid for it) as it would have been a hassle to get it through another MOT. We did get our use out of it though, we did another rally the previous year in the same car - so ~5000 miles in a car which cost us £10 lol. I should also add that over those two years, we didn't change a single mechanical component or service it :-) I won't bother posting pictures of the scheme from the last rally as we only painted the wheels gold and sprayed 'pussy wagon' down each side lol.zedx19 said:

Any chance of getting the gun comissioned and setting your sights on some of those pesky learner drivers continually attempting three point turns a few yards further along your road..............
