Lovely car, the R32 has always ben my favourite GTR and yours looks stunning in that blue. They just seem to be better proportioned than the later models.

Everyone's circumstances are different. I ran quotes at the same time and same details for a range of cars. Impreza and EVO were close to £2K. An S2000 was about £1.5k and oddly an RX-7 was about £500. Some of the specialist insurers laughed at me this year so I'll have to wait and see what happens next time around.
I can believe that, RX7s are looking like my best option for a weekend Jap-turbo nutter mobile, less than £300all in for fully comp when a similarly modded Scooby would be £5-600.

Now all i need to do is save up and find a good one.

I assume this is from the effects of the Tsunami, always wandered about import cars and radiation, are all exports subjected to a check? How do they check?

This is exactly why I have so much love for skylines. A very nice example you have! By looking at the pictures, worth the wait for.

I've seen a few people recommend the red stuff pads, they're definitely on the shortlist. I'm hoping I'll be able to insure it as a classic next time, most companies wouldn't even quote this time. Nice 32 yourself.

I'd like to get mine on a dyno to see if many horses have escaped. Trouble is with the stock ECU I've got the 180kph speed limiter still in place so a 4th gear pull is out of the question. Yours looks pretty rapid!

Yeah, I think it's just been after the Tsunami. I've no idea what they checked, all the invoice says is "Radiation Inspection - ¥3000" so about £20. I seem to remember an article about a bunch of cars that were stopped from entering Russia after failing a test. I've no idea what would have happened if it had failed? confused

Stunning car mate, and good on ya for being brave enough to import one without seeing before buying.

Back in the day when Max Power magazine was still almost respectable, probably mid 90's, and they took their first trip to Japan and discovered the midnight club, they featured a gorgeous electric blue R32 with mega power and not too many exterior mods, save for some tasty split-rim Blitz wheels with gold spokes.

I had a picture of that car on my bedroom wall for years! Still my favourite shape Skyline and , having driven the latest GTR which, whilst extremely fast and capable didn't really excite me a great deal, I'd go for one of these every time. Mine would have to be iin gunmetal grey with original rims though!

By the way, does the rear bench have a middle seat? Could maybe get around the misses with it then! :-)

Having had a look at these 32 GTR's over the last few days, you seem to have bagged a bit of a bargain at £9000.
Sounds silly but it's true!

Red Stuff pads are superb, low dust and very good braking
4 Wheel alignment I had done on our car at J Day Engineering, very good service highly recommended.

Thats probably as the Rx-7 is often regarded as being 1300cc

I think most true 'classic car policies' require said car not to be the primary car. The other types are just discount due to age and assumed 'care'.

I believe its rather that the rx's are much less common than skylines and less idiots seem to buy them and then crash them! One of the most detrimental factors of skyline ownership is chavtastic r33 gtst models that push insurance statistics up.

Skylines are also as notorious for suffering "skyline tax" as BMW's "M tax".

The rarity of a model usually pushes premiums up

I reckon the there are a lot more Evo's and Scoobys chavved up than Skylines , that doesnt seem to be reflected in their premiums

Unfortunately not, just two bucket seats. I'll take some interior shots when I take it out next. They are comfy though and you can fit two adults in the back, just. The last time I took it out I had my brother in the front and mum and dad in the back seats. My dad and brother enjoyed it! biglaugh

I think most insurance companies have got the sense to separate the different versions.

Really? other than Flux, A Plan and Sky I found that they all just classed them as gtr's, most didn't even have 2.5L or gtst, gtst4 etc on their system!!

Either way it's a lovely example and I hope it treats you as well as you seem to be treating it!

Other than the specialist insurers most dont have comprehensive databases of imports , I'm only aware of two companies that regularly cover such cars

My mate has had similar issues insuring his Mazda Eunos

Doesnt help of course that many GTST's are registered with the DVLA as GTR's or simply Nissan Coupe's
