A bmw replacement......a mg!
Discussion
So after my 328 touring got sideswiped by a escort and wrote it off I was in need of another large estate but to have a little more mpg..... So....... Let me introduce my mg zt-t diesel!
Sorry for the rubbish pictures, were taken in a rush at center parcs.
Paid the grand total of £1690 for a 2 owner from new. Full black leather, new clutch years ticket and 6months mot!
Only bad thing is the mileage...... 186000..... But at least it's a bmw engine and gearbox!
What you guys think?

Yea it's a bargain, it's a little rattle inside but I just Turning the radio up helps! I think the petrol versions give them a bad name, hg problems, crap fuel consumption etc. people dont realise at they are half decent cars!
Good luck to you. I will be interested to see the updates. High mileage cars can be very good or ruinous. I hope it performs as it should. These are by far the best looking estate cars in the world behind the Alfa 159 Sportwagon! I have the 1.8 turbo which i've owned since 1 year old with 8K on the clock. I was fully aware of the head gasket issue which didn't bother me. I checked the coolant weekly and it failed more or less as I expected it to, albeit at a lowly 32K miles a year ago. I then checked the coolant daily for 2 or 3 weeks until I had it replaced with the uprated gasket. The secret is not letting it overheat as future failures can occur. The car was 5 years old, so would have needed the cam belt changing anyway, so for £500 I had the gasket, water pump, auxiliary belts, cam belt, service all done in one. A cambelt change with service would be £300+ anyway. It's now on 39K and so far so good. It's a fantastic family tourer with decent performance and for a big car, good fuel economy. What's more, apart from the head gasket, it's been 100% reliable. I've had no issues with build quality either - this is just another myth! Not to say some cars have been abused though! One car I wouldn't touch with a barge pole is any diesel with a dpf (diesel particulate filter) which control exhaust emmissions. My sister in law had an 06 Focus TDCi which went into limp mode one day. She was told the dpf was clogged. She was quoted £700 for a new one!! She managed to get it regenerated but it failed again!! Then two glow plugs failed and could not be removed because they had expanded. She then had to have the cylinder head off in order to get them out!! She ended up spending well over a grand in a matter of weeks!! Needless to say she part ex'd it. I'll stick with my ZTT petrol!! Here it is complete with 20" wheels and duplex/quad exhaust. Must admit since the photos, I decided the exhaust was too loud both visually and audibly! I changed the back silencers for a pair of single outlet volvo 740 standard items. Now looks a lot more understated and sounds superb!;) Your ZTT looks superb for the mileage!;)

Never understood the "build quality" knocks that these cars get. I've had an MG ZT 190, and the quality inside was brilliant - really well put together, with a solid and reassuring feel to it all.
In direct contrast to that, my experience of MG was cheap, flimsy and shoddily screwed together.Door handle trims fell off, window module failed, door card came loose, kick panel under dash split, rear seats did not fit rail properly, squeaks and rattles everywhere, rust forming under bonnet on wings and slam panel, numerous electrical gremlins, boot let in rainwater and release mechanism was intermittent, headliner was starting to sag.
I hated the fact you would push on the dash with one finger near the glove box and hear it flex and squeak.
It was so crap I got shot of it can kept my 20 year old Toyota instead.

It's a general put down people wheel out for all non German cars. As we know german engineering is the ulimate, except the german manufactured variable intake manifold used on the V6 in these cars, which is the only part that regularly breaks.Nice car OP, doesn't look like its done 186k.

They have already scrapped 2 of them before even reaching 100k

I don't particularly rate German car's either.

Surprised by this. My Fabia is approaching 85k and feels totally solid. Comparing it to a collegue's Rover 25 which has 42k on the clock - it's like night and day. Tinny, rattles and creaks. Gearbox is like stiring cold porridge (so he told me) and its beginning to rot. Only reason I'm comparing it as it's a similar size etc and Rover/MG against Skoda.A family member has the use of a Skoda Fabia (German in Czech clothing) as a pool car and it's a complete turd.
