Lol, I've got almost the same ground clearance as the stock bumper and that doesn't bottom out. It's an optical illusion of how low it is.
Plus the fact it's mega mega strong and designed to sit a lot lower than it is on mine on tarmac rally cars. It survives pretty well on them, I'm sure it will be no trouble on my little road car. wink

This is as far as I've got today. All wiring from the dash back is now out, all deadening now gone and made a good start on removing most of the excess seam sealer.
Almost ready to start scotching up for paint, I'll get most of that done before the cage goes in because it's easier. Then it will all be prepped again once the tube work is in.

Yes I'm in the boot scraping sealer lol.

You must have a heart like a lion to keep going and working outside in the winter months, my Exige project is in a heated garage and I still can't be arsed to go out there and tinker with the car. Well done bud, as countless others have said, Stunning Impreza. Take a bow sir.

Cheers dude, yeah i kinda just suck it up. I tend to stop when i lose the light, but have been known to continue with just a head torch ha ha.

Ive built the entire car outside on axle stands and only the engine was built in the garage. Unfortunately my garage is full of tools and the car doesnt fit. Hoping to extend it in 2016 and then at least it wil be under cover. Unfortunately still means ill have to get it out to work on it.

I guess ive never known any different, one day i aspire to have a garage big enough to work in, although if that was the case, the lady would have me on the "Missing Persons" list! biggrin

Following this up, I've carried on and done some more.

Complete AC system out.

With that in mind I got the trusty bathroom scales out.

Complete AC system was 13.2kg
Space saver & jack 20.1kg
Approx 15kg in misc parts (couldn't get them all on the scales)
11kg sound deadening.

So there a good 60kg before looking at bumper beams and the U brace is still on the car.
I'm yet to start on the doors too. It sounds daft but it's noticeably easier to push by hand.

I've also got a steel alternator bracket on the way so I'll dump the big chunk of ally too.

Well that's it, she's now living in Wales for a month having the cage done. Looking forward to building it back up once she's done. Cage is full custom T45 so should keep the weight down. I couldn't believe the difference when holding the tubes compared to CDS. Amazing! smile

I hope someone at Subaru UK reads this.

This car is inspiring me to go and test drive a brand new Impreza and then build it - this car.

This continues to evolve properly, with quality parts and demonstrates just what can be achieved with saving, dedication and an appetite to make the very best Subaru possible.

I avidly await the updates - such an interesting car!

Cheers so much for the kind comments. It's taken me over 9 years and so much blood sweat and tears that sometimes you wonder WTF am I doing? Lol.
However, I still absolutely love doing it and love making it more unique and special with proper upgrades. I'm so excited to see it when I comes back, it really will be different. I've chosen a different colour for the interior too which should make it look even more special. smile

If there was any justice in the world Frayz you could sell this for a couple of hundred grand when it's finished, you've certainly sunk enough time and effort into it.

The fact that it isn't going to happen just confirms to me that you are completely mad!

Haha, I know mate.

However as with all of us petrolheads, very very few of us buy or build cars for financial investment. I fact mine is the automotive equivalent of the last depression. However, I love doing it. So have just stopped caring. biggrin

That's the spirit! I have nothing but admiration for your efforts mate, you clearly love what you do which in the end is what it's all about.

I started adding up the money I've lost on cars once, I had to stop before my heart did, I've suffered PTSD ever since.

fk it though eh? It's not a rehearsal.

I've had her for 10 years this year and probably done in excess of £70k on it. However I don't drink, I don't smoke and I don't put gear up my nose. A 40 a day smoker based on a packet of 20 costing £8 will do £5824 a year. That's £58,240 over 10 years.

They have cancer and I have a 570bhp home built supercar slayer. biggrin

Easy to justify in my man math context biggrin
