Okay, so I've been keeping this plan on the down low.
I'll let the photos do the talking.
Basically all genuine panels with steel rear qtrs and doors, carbon sills and kevlar wings.

WRC S8 coming soon.

This is going to be an awesome car.

Sorry if it's been said, are you keeping the car all black?

The panels are brilliant, the 20mm strips where things can be fixed on = better.

The little details distinguish this from the rest. Massively impressive.

Today Dave started on the drivers side rear qtr. All made by hand to Prodrives original S8 pattern.

Frayz, what's the reasons for going steel on the rear panels over carbon? Is it just because it's what the WRC cars used?

Yes the carbon rear qtrs didn't come in till the S11 cars (2004 onwards). They are a completely different shape to that of the S7/8 cars. I'm trying to keep mine as accurate as I can to the original. The sills are carbon/twintex mix and the front wings are Kevlar.

Massive thanks to Damien Bradley and Steven Darley for helping me source probably one o the rarest WRC parts out there for a bugeye.
Genuine Prodrive S8 Tarmac splitter/skid pan in autoclave carbon.

This is the real deal and will suit the car perfectly as it fits right up to the underside of the WRC front bumper. They only made the S8 cars for a year in 2002, then they only had this particular splitter on tarmac events, so there can't be that many of them around.

The headlamps are one thing that will have to remain as is for the time being.
The pre preg carbon housings are £380 each and then you have the cost of the Hella optics on top. So seeing as they can easily be done at a later date, for now I'm going to concentrate on more important stuff.

Remember, this isn't just a body kit. The real WRC panels will mean the wheels will no longer be in their correct positions as the WRC cars ran a longer wheel base. Therefore she will need WRC cradles and TCAs to suit.
You have no real appreciation for just how different a WRC car is to a road car until you embark on this kind of silliness. Lol

Of course I could have just got a WRC replica kit to suit a road car. There are heaps to choose from. However I don't like things the easy route, and be done with it, but if it were easy, every man & his dog would be at it. biggrin

My word!

A friend has been telling me about this build for a while, and showed me some of the cage pictures the other day.

I have now just finished reading the thread from start to finish. I have to applaud you on your single minded determination to build a car of such quality. Everything has been considered and improved upon. I absolutely love it.
The latest incarnation is going to be even more incredible and I can't wait for the updates!

So what colour is it going? I love the idea of it being a WRC car but with more bonkers power, guess it'll weight fairly similar being that it's the real body kit.

The general eye to detail and level of finish and dedication to this project is unbelievable. I have just read this from start to finish. What a car.

However on a side note, is it only me that sniggers to myself, everytime I read the word 'gusset'

Handmade WRC rear doors. This is how Prodrive did it and this is exactly how the real works cars are.

I'll let the photos do the talking.
