Today's sillyness.

Here you can see just how much material gets removed to build WRC front tubs and turrets. The offside shows just how little of the OEM piece is retained.
New pieces placed in that accept the WRC oil cooler setup. Surface rust comes as standard. biggrin

Dave cracked on with the start of the tubs and turrets today. So pleased with how it's progressing.

Things have certainly escalated since the ex-Cossie boy appeared on Scoobynet and said 'I'll just stick a 20g on it' Frayz. laughsmile

Great job! The increased castor really helps these cars get into tight corners cleanly!

Pity you haven't got one of these though:

An ex works S8 is approx £85k and I don't have £85k lol.
Yeah it has come a way but it's been a 10 year love/hate affair.
The topmounts are built on jigs, but yea the full chassis plate would be simpler. smile

It's a shame at our local supercar gathering it gets overlooked as just another a chavs car.
I can understand you must get frustrated by that but if I owned anything approaching your car I wouldn't be crying myself to sleep every night about it.

Best Impreza I've ever seen and bug eyes are my least favourite Impreza.

Can't wait to see this finished. And hear it! Must have showed everyone I know that vid at the start of the thread with you chasing that Lambo! The noise was incredible.

Cheers boys.

This is how yesterday's antics finished. You really start to get an idea of just how much is cut out of the rear tubs on a WRC car. The arch wells are huge. Rear flare is still in rough unfinished state and the bumper is a rough GRP mockup.

Parts laid up to get an idea of the arch line.

Cheers Jono, it's certainly something only a certain type of WRC nut would undertake.

I think you need to be reasonably mental to cut up your pride and joy in this manner to achieve something that only your dreams are telling you "is a good idea". Haha.

This is going to be stunning. There's a wide arch one up here which looks amazing but yours is going to be on a completely different level.
