Lmao @ winning at life. biggrin

I promised you goodies and here they are.

The NSR tub and turret taking shape today.
Here you really start to see how much wider the WRC flares are than the OEM body. You can also see just how much the wheel wells now intrude into the rear door apertures. The arches are absolutely enormous.

Even tacked in it looks pretty damn cool, can't wait to see it smoothed, epoxy coated and painted. biggrin

Scary bit first though!!

More coming soon.

Most of the NSR tub is now complete on its basic layout. Looks superb and I'm really pleased with Daves work.

More forming of the rear door jam and its return. Here you can see how much of the rear wheel well comes into the door aperture again. Also how much the jam has come out to meet the wider track.
Also more fettling of the rear qtr panel. The rear qtrs aren't far away from going on now.
All of this will then get its final fit and finish along with panel gaps to be set before she goes for paint.

Rear quarters with more finishing.

NSR inner and outer tub/turret complete.
She's all ready for the qtr panel to go on this week. These are going to look beautiful once painted.

Well today she finally got a rear qtr panel stitched on. Looks so much better to start looking a bit more like a car again.
The panels are bang on the OEM panel gaps which unfortunately shows up how poor the bumper fits. This will be adjusted so it's perfect, rally boys don't care for panel gaps. But we do and it will be perfect.
Hopefully we can find a genuine ex works bumper and it should fit perfectly.

Hi Frayz,

I'm a long time follower of your work on here and Scoobynet. I got a copy of the magazine today and I was as ever suitably impressed.

Having the car featured in the magazine is the least you deserve for the fantastic work you've done on it!

Well done sir!

I too first saw your car on Scoobynet when I had a Hawkeye but I have to ask the question.

Why?

What do you get from the process and when will it be complete? If ever.

I think you are on the wrong forum!

Why is because he wants to create a unique car that no one else has. The car will be as close to a WRC car as reasonably possible. It will probably the most radical road legal Subaru in the UK.

Why?

Purey because I can, ive always had a passion for rally cars and having the opportunity to build my own as close to WRC car as I can.
I didnt need to build a 570bhp engine, and if im honest its not entirely useable. I did it becasue i wanted to and given the choice id do it again.
Can i use what power i have, not really?
Do i want more? Absolutely!

A project car is never finished, im doing it for the sheer hell of it.

Nobody makes it out of this lifetime alive! biggrin

There are a whole lot of things in life which happen to you as an adult which aren't great.

Having what is in effect a fully fledged rally car in your garage that you can use whenever you like? That sounds like a great deal of fun. It is also something very, very, very few people will ever experience, let alone own and it's also comparatively great value to an Exotic car.

This build makes a huge quantity of sense in the context of having fun and Frayz can now enjoy it whenever he wants. The extent of the work will also go some way towards bolstering the value of the vehicle too.

Some people buy golf clubs, some people buy nice clothes, some people improve their homes, some people travel, some people build cars.

I think it's an excellent idea and I very much hope to see it around Essex and at some PistonHeads meets.

Why not
He is not asking for donations to complete it.
I look forward to reading and seeing progress.

Some odd comments really considering this is a car enthusiast forum.

If you have to ask, you will never understand.

Why do golfers hit a ball into a hole and get it out again?
Why do anglers catch a fish and put it back?
Why do footballers kick a ball into a net and get it out again?
etc

Frayz good on you..
Not really, fair question and an informative reply tbh.
I don't really see the point myself either, so it's interesting to understand what makes frayz tick with this project.
Do keep checking the updates though, keep em coming.
