Citroen CX, because why not?
Discussion
Excellent, well done that man for helping to keep the roads interesting!
Grew up being ferried about in GS and CXs, the last of which was a from-new '81 2400 GTi (non-turbo), gold with brown interior . Mad, mad cars, in a good way
One word of caution, don't bring any of your kids in that car as we got sick a lot when travelling in the back!
Can you do me a favour please and take a pic if it has one of those marvellous map-reading light in the passenger footwell?

No kids or map-reading light, but I know the one you mean.
If anyone has any parts kicking round that they want to sell, let me know.
Wow, I did a double take there, thinking it was my dads old blue Pallas...
I loved driving my Dads various CX's, he had a series II 2200 which had a great interior. We then had two Series I versions, the blue Pallas and a white Athena (much missed)....
Great cars. And, I can say I never got sick in the back. Dad must have got me used to the Citroen way via BX's, GSA's and even an old Ami Super.

That's the one, thanks! Was fascinated by that as a young lad, simple pleasures I suppose Great cars. And, I can say I never got sick in the back. Dad must have got me used to the Citroen way via BX's, GSA's and even an old Ami Super.
Illness probably wasn't helped by eating a load of sweets before a long journey now that I come to think of it

My word, it really does make you wonder how a company that made many of what are undoubtedly some of the coolest cars ever (CX is my personal favourite and also on the must-try list) ended up churning out stuff like the C3?? The new range looks a bit better but still nothing like these.
What a small world! When i saw this title my thoughts immediately went to the nice blue CX that i have been seeing around my campus recently. Only to open the page and A) see the opel monza i saw a while back sitting in the car park ( i remember playing football in the carpark with some mates as it pulled in) and B) the same CX in pictures! Its a lovely lovely car, more so in the flesh.

Wish my interior looked that tidy.

Ta, butI think the pictures flatter it. On the good side it's a 10 foot car, but I like a car to show a bit of history.I had a black, 1988 CX 25 TRi auto Safari in the early 90's which was a fantastic car to have with 3 young kids, so good that I bought Mrs BL Mk1 a white, 1988 CX 25 GTi auto saloon to go with it. (It turned out the chassis numbers were only a few apart).
Even back then, they weren't exactly commonplace so finding a decent early one now is a result. Enjoy!

As I said, I am so jealous! I had a string of around 20 hydropneumatic Citroens (XM, Xantia, Xantia Activa, BX) but the CX was a completely unique and wonderful experience. If mine had been a manual, it'd have been the perfect car. I remember a stormy, windy cross country drive; it felt so sure footed and rode beautifully. Fantastic cars!
My father and I have had 19 Citroens between us, from the Ami through to the C5. The CX remains my favourite by far.Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
