Citroen CX, because why not?

Hey W00DY, what a joy to see another CX 2400 Pallas!
I had one back home in Sydney (there's a potted history in my garage) and the serenity and suppleness still haunt me to this day.
In fact, the 600 SEL I just bought is the first thing that's bettered it for offering such an other-worldly experience.
Just pray that you never have to change the wiper motor.
Pray hard.
Upwards and onwards!

I have a spare wiper motor and I am now very afraid . The current one appears to work fine though so I'll try to avoid angering it.
As a driving experience it never fails to be enjoyable, it really is something else.
Yours sounds like good fun and strangely a W140 600 is on my most wanted list.
Just love this car, and a great colour for it!
Plus, a great excuse to watch my favourite car ad ever: http://youtu.be/ULB2EoYdE38

My favourite Citroen ad was the GSA suffering a blowout as it passed between two artics.
Here it is in French (first of the series)

What a lovely thing..! Congratulations for going for it, and I am sure you won’t regret it - they are really fantastic cars.
Excuse CX reminiscences, but...
I had two, and in many ways, they remain my favourite cars... I bought a chrome bumper (‘Y’ plate, so.... ’82-’83) CX2400 Safari auto, as my first car in the early ‘90s (I’d only had ‘bikes up until then...) because I needed a big, cheap estate car - and it looked cool, of course. Then, I later spent what at the time seemed to be ‘real money’ on a late Turbo II, which was a wonderful beast.
The Safari was blue, with blue velour seats, and the drum-type instruments, which were fantastically cool... and actually quite easy to read, too. It introduced me to CX ride, handling and braking characteristics, and to things like adjustable ride heights and power centring steering... The whole ergonomic layout - the drum instruments, the single spoke steering wheel, the finger tip rocker switches for the non-self canceling (hooray!) indicators, is actually really good once you get accustomed to it, like a lot of CX features.
I lived in Isleworth for a time when I had it, and used to enjoy casually negotiating flooded Thames-side roads with a tweak of the ride height lever... while posh types in Astons tiptoed through the water. It ran with very little trouble for a couple of years, carrying huge chunks of boat (don’t ask...) and a not-very-disassembled Guzzi 1000 SP. Finally, a hydraulic pipe or something went, and it wasn’t worth fixing. Shame, really.
The Turbo II was white, with all-black detailing and no chrome, in best ‘80s style; it had black and grey checked velour seats... It was just as comfy as the Safari, and a lot faster... The best trans-European express I’ve ever had - I drove it Italy and back twice, amongst other places... with 125mph cruising on the autostrada entirely straightforward. Apart from a bit more wind noise, it felt the same at 125 as it did at 65... I once saw 140 indicated on the autobahn somewhere. The acceleration wasn’t shattering, but it was a fantastic fast cruiser, and handled surprisingly well for a big thing with a cast-iron motor in the nose. The brakes were superb, and the ride was the best I have ever encountered, in anything...
