Surprised how rotten it had gotten, they normally stand up pretty well to rust. Fair play for repairing it, i've seen 205's in much worse states repaired, it'll be worth it!

Awesome car! If I could get over my addiction to German metal from the 80's and 90's a Dimma 205 would be the dream/aspirational car for me!

How long do you think it'll take to complete?

Loved these back in the day, I have just rebuilt a 1.9 steel grey and put gti6 in it, do you have any engine plans....even gti6 is not that quick by modern standards.

Makes sense to keep it true but also many Dimmas were turboed back in the day, I think a modded mi16 would also be seen as a period mod.

Keep us updated, I love the Dimmas and yours should be great.

There's one of these outside a friends workshop, being stored, yet has a flat front right, so seems a bit unloved. Always been a 205 GTI fan and this Dimma just looks ace, I can see why you took the plunge.

Was it on the whole just a body kit or did other changes take place, the engine, the chassis, the interior? It wasn't a name I'd heard of before clocking this thread a day or two before seeing this one parked up!

dimma kit was a option from dealers which included the bodykit and wheels antother option was a interior upgrade fron dimma.

I loved these, I always remember seeing a blue one locally around 1992.
It always turned heads cool

I'm sure all of the work will be well worth it in the end. Good to see a bit of 80s nostalgia being rescued. cool

Odd that I stumbled in here, as I haven't seen anything on Dimmas for years, and stumbled across this mis-spelt one, last night (I have no connection with the advert).

Looks like the body kit and other bits were hiding a lot of rust, well done for taking the decision to restore it good to see it being saved, will be great when you've done it - keep up the good work.

Spent today getting the car back on its wheels and getting it out of the garage for a tidy up also took the time to remove wiring loom and had quick check of floor and I can see atleast 3 places that will require some welding but there maybe more but wont know till I get car on spit and strip underseal off.

Are you going to keep it pink wink

Seriously though, top job getting it restored. I'm just off to drop my 1.9 in for a respray this evening.
