In a rather retarded fashion, as now we'll have to climb over it to jump start it!

My guess is 6 attempts, on the basis that all the prior numbers have been taken.

My parents had a very similar-looking one of these when I was in my late teens. A quirky car but it never let us down.

I was driving it south on a French péage en route to a skiing holiday when the back left tyre burst in the fast lane. With my 18 year-old inexperience I over corrected the consequential imbalance and threw us into a spin. We slid sideways out of the fast lane, across the slow lane and hard shoulder, wiped the headlights off on the only section of Armco for a mile and were flipped the remaining 270° to end up rolling again in the right direction along the hard shoulder. It was a miracle we didn't hit any of the other cars and lorries on that busy section of motorway at the time.

Despite this I still have fond memories of the car. I'll be watching this thread - please update it, kitch. :-)

Which is crazy as the BX is one of the few cars where a blowout shouldn't make you crash.

What so we win if we guess correctly??

You win the clutch friction plate after it's been removed. Can be framed if you like....it'll be pretty shiney biggrin

Love the idea of this car.

How easy is it to slot a new engine in? There's only one for sale on ebay and it happens to be very close to me but it has a knackered engine.
Think I know the car you mean. It's pretty easy to do in fairness.....finding a 1.8TD lump would be harder, but the 1.9TD is practically the same engine and slots pretty much straight in too. You've just got a 'moral' dilemma on whether you tell your insurance company about your 2bhp increase laugh

What a cracking car cool Have enjoyed reading the original thread on this car too, looking forward to the updates!

At least give it a wash and an oil change though biggrin

Oil change....maybe. Depends on MOT (and when Asda are having a sale on oil!)

Wash? The rain will do that.

Put this Saturday morning in your diary folks.....it's go time biggrin

I'll make sure I film it! I notice how everybody has guessed the number of attempts needed to get it going, yet no one has actually said it won't start as their option!

Surely this car should be known as "The Break"? But then as it seems to always start again, maybe not smile

So it started in a maximum of 6 tries.

Excellent. Hope it still goes. If you get chance dump some waxoyl on the underside and we'll see you again in a couple of years smile
