ZX always was a brilliant car, but I never really warmed to them.http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/c...

I ran a deisel ZX for most of the year as my commuter and was gutted when the rear suspension finally died. When looking to fix it it had so much rust from previous bodges that it went to the scrappy.
They are not as economical as some older TDs but i managed a steady 45mpg average and when i was really trying i got it up to 60mpg for a whole tank, it did help that it was just after the Easter school holidays started and there was no traffic for my normal run to work.
Great cars, and surprisingly comfy, but lacking the awesome suspension of their big brothers.
In a world of fear, terrorism and James Corden, it's nice to occasionally stumble across a gold nugget of joy. I received such a nugget today!
The Estate lives! And, not only does it survive; it's been overhauled, too! Much welding and painting has been administered, and the result is clear as day. It's now ready for an MoT attempt, and should it prove successful, it's going to the Citroen Car Club National rally with its new owner, John.
He's gone his own way with the rear end:
OK, so it's more of a mixed bag there, but it doesn't matter at all. It's a look he likes, and judging by how shiny all the glass is, that car is now cherished.
Honestly, I never thought the day would come where the most deserving car in the world received its makeover. If I weren't so emotionally-stunted, I'd almost be misty-eyed right about now!
This news has led me to consider dragging the red 16v out of hibernation one more time (before the MoT expires), so I can take it to the same meeting and re-unite them on camera. But for now, I'm as happy as a chubby piglet rolling around in its own fecal matter.
