If the mechanically identical older version could only do 151, why was it necessary to limit the later one to 155? silly

No Idea, just repeating what I read online

Btw are these the badge overlays everyone is talking about?

http://www.dmb.uk.com/prod/373/ford-badges-gel-ove...

If yes then I might try black/chrome and see how it looks

I love the red stitching even if it is like what was in the MG Metro and Maestro.

We're expecting our 1st child in June & I have been looking at the estate ST220's (Baby things & a fully grown Chow Chow take up a surprising amount of space) so will be watching this thread with interest to see how you get on.

One question though is what's the MPG like? I had a 2007 Focus ST-2 & that liked to drink, how does the V6 stack up?

Cheers

Jamie
Better than I expected to be honest. I average between 32 and 34mpg if I take it easy for trips. Around 24mpg in the city.
Fuel consumption (urban) 19.5 mpg
Fuel consumption (extra urban) 35.3 mpg
Fuel consumption (combined) 27.2 mpg

So basically (like 99% of drivers)you are matching and bettering official figures-which tend to be exaggerated esp (extra urban)

Not sure why the '3rd' facelift was such a must, in my opinion the second facelift was much more handsome without all the garish chrome everywhere, which for some reason seems to be missing on yours. And was the 4mph extra top speed that essential in your purchase?

I'm also a little confused by the upholstery, I thought all ST220's came with the full Recaro leather and only the ST155 Diesels had the alcantara trim with the leather as an option?

My city driving is between my house and the train station and does not involve start stop traffic, thus the better mpg. My highway consumption is a little worse than the official one.

Alcantara leather was an option for the ST220 only from September 2005 onwards.

I really like these, particularly in the blue like those cars in your picture from what I pressume is a meet!

Interior looks busy, too many contrasting colours I feel. The white and grey seats, black carpets and red detailing, bit OTT.

The badges look odd too, as others have echoed. Debadging is completely removing the badge, from a distance it looks like someone has taped over yours!

Seats are cream and dark grey (close to black) and do match well when you see them in person.
Will try black and chrome gel overlays to see how they work, did not know they existed.

You still seem to be doing a bit better than most ST220s.

Why are the 55/06 higher road tax? - i thought engines were supposed to get more efficient year on?
Also are the 06 higher depreciation and more difficult to sell on?
Whilst a ST220 may have a niche i can't see many takers for a GHIA x 3.0 with the higher road tax
Btw the jump in road tax price is @ 38YEARS worth of historic road tax increases!!!

Micloi, did you find a 10% code? I think the code used to exist on MondeoSTOC a year or two ago but I think stopped, so if you did find one could you PM me it?

To the person questioning the half leather/ half alcantara.
The Mondeo ST TDCi as standard had half leather/half cloth.
Full leather was an optional extra and then half leahter/ half alcantara was added late 2005 as another optional extra.
The seats are very rare in the Mondeo ST's.

Looks very nice, I have not seen 2 tone seats before, very smart.

As said though "Dad Taxi" sign? Nooooooo

And it would look better with the Ford badges uncovered.

The VED bands changed in March 2006 so the ST220 ended up in a higher grouping that previously. At 249g/km it went from band K (currently £270) to band L (currently £460).

Not seen much evidence of it affecting the cars - the difference in tax is about 3 tanks of fuel.

I'm somewhat amused that people buy a 3 litre petrol and then complain about the fuel economy...!

For reference I typically see 25-30mpg - over nearly 5 years.

Mine is mapped though and gives more economy at part throttle and more power at full throttle.
Tested it again today and during a 6 miles urban trip (30mph max limit, some traffic lights and roundabouts) I got an average of 24mpg.
That is driving it very carefully though (i.e. changing to 4th gear from 25mph)
