The chassis is painted, not galvanised, and appears OK, but of course you never know what horrors may lurk within. Last MoT (done two weeks ago) - no advisories on chassis. Bulkhead appears OK too. This one seems to be a lot less rough than the diesel one that I had a few years ago (pub purchase, 600 quid), and has the petrol engine, which is better than the diesel. The gearbox was replaced last year because the transfer box on the old one had gone FOOM.

I had 2 S2a's in the space of 6 years (one was a Frankenstein 109 built from a 68 chassis & mostly S3 bits)and believe it or not. They were our only cars for the whole time! Yes, we used 30 year old Land Rovers daily for 6 years in the 90's! And it was me ( aged 5!) who wanted one after seeing a tv show about them & dad granted that wish a day or two later. A green 63 88 inch that we didn't keep for long enough before arrival of the Frankenstein.Since then we've (mostly) had nothing but Land Rovers. the two 2A's were replaced by Disco 1's, a white one then a blue one (which served us well for over 10 years with only one major issue!) then a Disco 2 & a Ninety.
But I still want another S2A with the headlights in the grille.

Lol lol u bad man, what do you reckon is a sensible offer for something like this, remembering it's got a 'modern' td engine, love the colour too.

Hard one! Looks minty, and would command big bucks, but the engine change could bring the price down a fair bit, I suppose, as originality is thought desirable. I honestly find it impossible to pick a price for that one. Sorry to be no help. Anyone else got any ideas? http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C472404#

5K ish is probably about right, I guess.
Watching "Daktari" as a child made me want a Series II Landy. We lived only a few hundred yards from the Land Rover factory, and often walked past the yard with all the new ones parked up waiting to be delivered to all parts of the rapidly unravelling Empire. My dad spent most of his career in various divisions of what became BL, but never worked in Land Rover.
I wanted to get a Series IIA when I first looked at old Landies a few years ago, but even then they were expensive. Series IIIs are more plentiful and cheaper. A Series I is too raw even for me, and they cost a bomb these days.
Anyway, Daktari, complete with Clarence the Cross Eyed Lion. I had this Corgi set, although I think that the Landy was black and white, not green and black:-
