Already been replaced with an Alpine head-unit. Soon to be a Dynavix sat-nav unit. Just have to relocate the climate controls. Seems easy enough to do.
Those Dynavins look good. I'm sure there are lots of different brands offering similar products.

Hmm. I've read a lot of bad things about those units, have they improved now? I have an entire OEM Sat Nav and Harmon Kardon conversion if you end up going the factory route.
How much did the conversion cost if I may ask?

It is £800 for the package including TV. It would be a weekend DIY job if you are reasonably competent with a set of tools.

i bought a double din super-dooper unit before i realised bmw's 'brilliant' design. Luckily it will fit in my other car but the alpine head unit i have in at the mo looks pooh. Would rather have the OEM look. May well do this conversion. Where did you buy the unit and adaptor plates?

I removed the entire system from one of my previous cars, so I had it ready for the next M3 in case it didn't have the OEM Nav.

Minor things done to her. I didn't like the silver kidney grilles so replaced them with carbon jobs. However, then the indicators were spoiling the look so I fitted some darker LED units from America. I think it looks a lot better, a bit meaner. That's it for modding plans although I am slowly leaning towards an ESS supercharger conversion.

The indicators ruin the look IMO, they look too aftermarket for my liking

off to BMW yesterday to sort out a wee chip and a scuff and to have a carbon csl bootlid painted and fitted, carbon csl diffuser, eibach springs (25mm front, 10mm rear drop) and a set of bbs csl wheels. Will post pics when I get her back.

They are such great cars. I used to own a Carbon Black one with the manual box and would own another one. I used to love driving with the rear windows open so I could hear the noise the thing made.

Beautiful example and hope you enjoy it. I am a bit on the fence about the indicators but it is your car and if you like it that is all that matters.

Doh, bmw didn't want anything todo with none bmw parts so the bootlid and diffuser are not on but the paint has been sorted and the wheels are on. Delighted with it.

Love the wheels and grills. Miss the old indicators!

oh dear, all this hate for the indicators. The old ones were soooooo white and really looked like the two piece unts that they are. Now they look like a single unit...and a bit meaner. IMO every time I see another M3 now I just think they look a bit daft, like an afterthought.

......then fear not, this is remaining exactly as standard.

Seems to be going a bit off track based on your original post. Your well down the slippery slope already.

They are depos, LED depos.

And yes I am tinkering a bit but keeping all original bits to return it to standard when the time arises (although I love it so much I can't see me ever selling it)

Nice car, those wheels really suit it tbh. Be interesting to see how it looks with the carbon.

Edited that for you

OP you started off with a nice unmolested car, and IMO are ruining it, there are so many CSL styled E46 M3s around now that seeing a nice, clean standard and unmolested car is like a breath of fresh air

It's your car and each to their own but it would have been best left alone IMO
