Hmmm, looked at these myself for years coming from the Mr2 community.

I like the look and the idea of what is built but the costs scare me.

If it were me, at a minimum i'd look to going Audi V8 and box with the lump to give the car the right feeling. Hope this doesn't turn out to be a dud.

The Mr2 as a donor car though for something other than a re-body, i don't understand why it's not been used outside of this and the LaBala.

Watching with interest smile

hi dom,
the guy placed an order 18months ago approx and with his mate derrick (who is was with today) and went to FL to view the orange car. Apparently the place is small with just him and ANother working there.

Apparently after 6months or so they then wanted the remainder of the balance of payment to complete his car (said cash flow problems) but without anything to show for his initial 50% - (usually 50% up front and then 50% on COMPLETION) or in effect its 100% UP FRONT

As he refused to part with anymore money until he could view a finished or even part finished car it all went pear shaped. I think he realised by parting with more money would just add to the scam.

I believe he has counted his losses now as the legal procedure from UK to US is expensive, long winded and stressful

of course there are 2 sides to every story and this is JUST the buyers side....hopefully this is an isolated incident and james will be getting his goods asap..

Got it and replied smile

I probably won't be back before July, so probably not worth going so close to when you would go.

Always happy to pop over in between your next trips, however smile

Given the power of social media these days they'd be pretty brave to screw him over since they posted his blog up on their facebook page and everything, I'm not sure how to link the specific post but here is their facebook page and you can see it on their timeline:

Any thoughts/opinions on the chassis from those that know better than I?

You should post this build up on Two Brutal but be prepared for that 3SGTE to last 5 mins.

I'm still continuing on with the project obviously and I'm still hopeful of the outcome I want. If it all goes wrong then I will post up on here, but for now I'll just use this thread to concentrate on the build itself.

I'm visiting in July to say Hi to the guys themselves, so looking forward to that.

Regarding posting on other forums, I've posted on a few and its hard enough to keep up to date on them, but feel free to post yourselves linking to the blog smile

If it was me I wouldn't part with the next 50% until they say its in the warehouse ready for shipping, and then with a £350 flight I would swallow a trip to Miami to see it on the container.... Hope you made contact with bob...regards

I live in Florida and have had my eye on them for several years. The story of the slow development, nowhere can I find build logs/blogs/threads...

I have the bright idea to put a VW TDI in a GT4... Been my dream for at least 6 years now, since I saw the blue one. For those who don't know, the VW TDI Jetta (Bora) can be made into an 8 second daily driver that gets 50+ mpg and lasts 300K miles while running on WMO. And, no, that's not Internet armchairing. I've seen many. Driven a few. Wrenched on them, too. Not much HP, but boatloads of torque... Among those who like to mod the TDIs, it's almost become a standard to smoke any muscle car with a 4-door diesel. My Passat, until it was totaled by a 12 point buck last night, was one of them. Extreme sleeper...

But anyway...

I hate Miami, and I live about 500 miles away from Miami... But closer than Texas. ;-)

Just seems odd to me. Why are they so unknown? Why aren't there any? I emailed a few times, was told it can be tagged and made street legal in Florida. Drive it every day on the road...

I'm watching this very closely. Now that my car is a mess, I'm on the ragged edge of sacking-up and doing this. If the design can be altered to use my Passat's parts, I have the donor taken care of...

I want to know what the usual delay between up-front and delivery is, but... It doesn't seem to happen enough to have that information.

I know the delay with mine and others who have ordered who I have spoken to has been the windscreens and having to go to a new manufacturer. I also think this caused a backlog, Currently my order is 4 weeks past original date, I don't expect my car to be on a ship whilst I'm over there, I expect to be able to see it and then have it ship shortly after my visit.

The unknown bit to the company is the only bit to me that makes you think why, its such a nice design, however in the same essence I know their first car made it on to the road last year and their 2nd demo one obviously recently so in terms of being road legal and on the market its not long. I guess with my experience we will all find out the answers soon enough. On a change of note I'm happy with the engine work I've been doing and that's beginning to come together.

Not too much to add really, I've done all the prep work I need too. I'm currently organising shipping and going from there.

Could be a couple of weeks before any major update again, although I've been looking into replacement Dials etc... and general bits and bobs.

I completely agree, that is one great looking car! Something I would love to have a close look around.

I wish you the best of luck in getting the issues sorted and the car on the road, it'll certainly attract a lot of attention when you get to drive it.

Good, not great.

6's and 8's are always a better option. Then you can add some FI.
