Car no.7, MK5 Golf GTI.
Discussion
Long time lurker around here, first time poster. Thought I best start with my car...
In my 20 years on this earth I've owned a few cars, but I'm currently at the most sensible. Here's a brief run down of my Automotive history, I won't bother spamming this with the photos so just click the links.
2009 Renault Clio GT.
2000 VW Bora 1.6 S.
1983 VW Golf Driver.
1999 Audi A4 2.4 SE.
2002 VW Bora 130TDI Sport.
1990 Mazda MX5 1.6.
Anyway, here is the current car.

It's pretty much the most grown up car I've had. Goes well, too! Had it since October and have been enjoying it, although I do miss the MX5 some times!
Best features? Well I can go for a hoon, I can cruise comfortably, I can show up somewhere fancy without looking like a tramp and I can get 30mpg without even trying. It's pretty much everything you need in a car!
Plans? Nothing this year, maybe a slightly more fast road set up next year. Harder suspension, lighter wheels with grippier tyres, better brakes and a LSD. Usual. But for now, it's plenty!

Very nice. We have a black mk5 with a cream leather interior. Great car. Only problem with it is we have 9 month old daughter, & it's a 3 door. Getting the car seat into the isofix can be a bit tough now she's getting bigger.
It's fast, handles well and looks classy. I'd prefer if it was better on fuel but that's been picky.
Oddly though, if I fancy a hoon, I always go out in my MX-5.

May I just ask, whats the insurance like on that? Being 20 myself, I quite fancy one of these
If it's any help. I bought an A3 2.0T (Pretty much the same car) As I turned 21. Tried loads of specialist VAG policies but the cheapest ended up being Direct Line at £880 fully comp, and was quoted similar for a GTI. Thanks for all the kind words!
Firstly, yes I'm on ClioSport. And I have no plans to make this as undrivable as my other cars. It's just too good!
The car is Manual, and the paint is Shadow Blue. I thought it was quite a rare colour when I bought it, now I cant seem to stop seeing them around! This one has Parking sensors, and a sunroof. I've also added a double din touch screen Alpine HU, coupled with JL Audio front components and a cheap sub in the boot. Sounds chavvy I know but it's purely for sound quality, and not playing N Dubz full pelt down McDonalds carpark.
As for insurance, its very reasonable for my age and cheaper than some slower cars! I pay £1200 fully comp. Did a cheeky quote online adding a year to my age and no claims (to get an idea of what I'm going to be paying), and it went down to £750.
I deliberately bought one with the 17" wheels. I just prefer the way they look. The 18" have a diamond cut face, which not only corrodes badly but looks a little too "Max Power" for my liking.
