Got a bit bored with the car (Work in progress) and lots to do, so far 275kg of weight shaved off and looking to shave off about about 200kg by various other means (seats etc)

Basics are, REVO tuned and running full R8 LMS Race suspesnion set up and the body with lots of carbon, most of the car will be painted hence we have primed the bumpers etc (they are carbon)

...wait, you shaved 275kg off of it without removing the interior and plan to get another 200kg out of it?...do you mean lbs not kg?

I cant believe there is that much fat in the car?!

If you have time I'd love to know how you shaved 275kg off of it.

The Spyder weighs in at 1.7t.

For example the front bumper alone came in at 45kg (complete) the carbon one weighs 6kg and very similar for the rear.

Things like bumper reinforcements and brackets etc all add up (no longer required)

All sound deadening has been removed, splash guards, the standard bonnet also weighed more than 3 times what the Carbon one does, the exhaust saved 35kg alone.

The wheels are forged and weight in a 9kg lighter per corner.

The list goes on, pretty anything i could remove i have and i am still doing so.

Ok thats where you lost me.. the stock wheels are 9kg each and br20's are about the same weight.
In reality I doubt you've removed half of the weight you think you have. That being said, its not really that important smile so long as you're enjoying it thats all that matters, I'll shut up from now on smile

Boring I know but please do a readers thread on the 2002 turbo, that's in my top ten of all time cars list.

PS it looks like your making a beast of an R8. Not a fan of kits but await the results of this :-)

sorry , but that body kit cheapens the hell out of the R8

should probably rename the thread "How to make an R8 V10 look like a MR2

Could be worse, it could turn out looking like an x type?

Joke aside lovely car op and I commend your bravery in modifying an already fantastic car!

So, err, are you saying you've removed the front and rear bumper beams and other parts of your crash structure?
