Meguiars PlastX is your friend for the headlights dude, I've done my DC5 a couple of times now with it. They'll ways cloud back over so it's just a case of keeping on top of it.
Thanks for the tip; I know this problem affects S15s very commonly so it's something I'll have to keep an eye on. Would much rather keep on top of it than fork out for new lights (seriously, S15 headlights are ridiculously expensive to get).To the people who mentioned about why Nissan didn't sell it here; I remember hearing that towards the end of S14 production Nissan had loads of cars sat on lots that weren't selling. People didn't want to pay £25k for a Nissan and the coupe market in general has never seemed that great over here from what I can see. America didn't get the S15 either (was only Japan, New Zealand, Australia and Taiwan (but Taiwanese ones were sold under a different brand/model name altogether).
Ultimately I think another reason it wasn't sold here is emissions. By this time Nissan and other Japanese car manufacturers were already struggling to meet emissions regulations for new cars and that's what killed off so many sports cars of that era. The S15 was only around for about 3 years before it was discontinued.

Best for who? Who actually gives a st?
Best for the JDM community as a whole, because its really fking annoying getting pulled over every week by police who are ingrained with the notion that all old jap tuners are boy racers. You can give the "fk it" attitude all you like but there are benefits to not upsetting every old biddy every time you plant your foot. Have you heard a standardish SR20 anyway? They are great motors but dont sound particularly nice...When you plant your foot its stupidly loud and will spit flames. Will admit its not fun on the motorway though.
Also because its a 1983 car it doesnt need a Cat so dont feel the need to change it.
Nice car
Think the headunit it stock nissan ie Japanese Pioneer Carrozerria I think its called , often fitted to Skylines my 33 came with one
I'd keep the exhaust stock until it needs changing , those little black things remove resonance , stock nissan exhausts are very well made, a quality item.
I wouldnt fit a pod filter either , just a new panel filter
There is much more of a move towards keeping things more standard nowadays imo , badly modified cars are all around

If you are from Middlesbrough you will have no doubt seen my friends old white S15 that used to knock about, unfortunately a woman driver didn't understand the concept of a roundabout and wrote it off It was a cracking car though, great fun, you'll enjoy it!
Never saw it but I've heard of a white S15 that went to a few North East meets so I assume it was the same one possibly. Seen a few JDM cars here (mainly a couple of DC2 Integras) but never the S15. Only S15 I've seen was at a car show!Neith said:

The 200sx/Silvia would've sold a lot better in the US if they weren't stitched up with the N/A 2.4 litre pickup truck engine. Pretty much any S-body modified over there is converted to an SR20 lump. It's here!
Well, after waiting since late January, I can now say that my S15 is officially mine!
I was worried I wasn't going to as the car developed a hesitation yesterday before I was due to pick her up. Well, the mechanics at DCY worked on it yesterday and fitted another timing chain. It had just had one recently but DCY found it to be defective and as a result I was able to pick her up this morning! Lovely drive back 50 miles and the car didn't miss a beat (well, aside from me stalling it coming out of DCY...).
Everything seems to work fine and the only work I can see that needs doing at some point is the mirror that was painted badly. Aside from that, the leather round the steering wheel and the gear knob is a bit worn so might get a new gear knob and retrimmed wheel at some point. Certainly not urgent though!
Absolutely in love with the car at the moment, I was like a big kid picking it up The power delivery is so much different to my previous cars, in this it just feels completely effortless. Awesome car and I've already had a couple of waves (WRX STi and a Lotus Elan S2). Looking forward to the next few years!
Pictures:
Only things I've noticed so far are: 1) I need to watch my head getting out (way less headroom than my EP3, haha) and 2) trying to figure out the correct tyre pressures was fun (was all in Kg/Cm2 rather than PSI). Thankfully, I've now figured that out.
I'd really recommend DCY to anyone looking for an import, the service has been brilliant. Barrie and George are top guys. I know a lot of people use either Torque GT or JM-Imports, but I'd throw DCY in as another option.
Plans (once I'm not skint ) are Volk TE37 wheels (or an alternative if needed), new headunit and maybe a new exhaust at some point. Maintenance-wise, I need to clean the headlight covers (they're quite faded) and get a replacement gear knob/retrimmed wheel at some point as the leather is quite worn. That's all...

Very very awesome, a few friends have S15 silvias and another friend has one coming over on a boat at the moment. I've a S14a at the moment.
Get onto SXOC and keep an eye on the wheels for sale section (stay away from parts, everything is too tempting).
I'd recommend exhaust, induction kit and boost controller, should see you at around 300bhp at low cost.
Mines at 286bhp/300lb ft and its brilliant but I'm now on the search for a T28R ball bearing turbo from an S15 like yours. Brilliant fun, slide very progressively, folk mate them out to be mental drift machines but when they are relatively standard they aren't bad at all, in the dry at least.
Enjoy, keep the thread updated and apologise to your bank in advance for random impulse purchases!
Also, if you ever want a little more power/different set up, speak to Jez at Horsham Developments, he'll keep you right.

Lovely car OP, but 11k is a LOT of money!! what sort of mileage has it got? I agree a set of white TE37's would look sweet just make sure you get 9.5j all round as the thinner ones have no concave on the spokes
58,000 miles. It would be cheaper to get one now, but when I won the auction the Japanese Yen was stronger than it is now, so the car cost more. You'd still be looking at £9-10k to import one though, so I don't feel it's too bad. Worth noting that this is the Spec-R (the turbo model), there is a non-turbo'd Spec-S which would be significantly cheaper to buy.I don't feel bad about the price because these hold their value extremely well. In the event I ever sell it, I could get back a good proportion of the money I paid for it.
