After countless hours of searching and weighing up the options of getting something else, Ive come to the realisation that this car does every thing I need perfectly well, so Ive decided to keep it. That will mean in the new year some freshening up, maybe new alloys or a refurb, and some other bits and bobs
I had some rust appear on one of the front arches, so got that sorted recently

Yes they are plastic, but it seems one of mine was replaced at some point in its past, Ive got no idea why, and its HPI clear too. Oh well.
MPG wise, it is mapped and sits at around 38-39 no matter how I drive. I live in Northamptonshire in the countryside, so it includes a mixture of open A roads, B roads, DC and occasional in town driving.
Last month I drove to central London and back, which was averaging 60-70 all the way there, crawling all the way into the centre at 6pm and then a very late night empty road blast home crusing at a fair pace ( ), by the time I was home it was on 36.x
I think my thermostats are due for a change soon, that should see a couple more MPG average.
If I reset it on a long motorway trip and cruise at 70-80 it can get high 40's.
This weekend I'll be driving to the bottom end of Cornwall, so will be interesting to see what it gets on that run.

Seeing yours got my heart going! because my 3 series is nearly 10 years old and I worry about rust but I believed the E9x was pretty good at keeping it at bay and that picture came as a shock, pleased you have got it sorted and its still treating you well. I do keep thinking that mine will get some anytime soon as well, its kept in the garage but obviously still goes out in the rain, I think years of owning Fords has made me paranoid about rust!
When I had my TVR I loved the fact it was fibreglass so I didn't have to worry about the body...the problem was the chassis fell to bits instead!!

I've been after a pair of genuine Performance gloss black grills ever since I got the car, earlier this week some finally came up for sale.
When I got the car it already had matt black ones fitted, but they had faded to grey.
I was surprised at just how much colour they had lost!

Just read the thread start to finish, lovely car. Dare I say it I'm not normally a fan of red cars, they often look cheap even on a C class Merc I looked at BUT this works really well, even more so with the dark wheels and grill. I really like the little touches too, the black badge on the back looks good (mine being a 20d I'll be leaving it off )
How are you finding the leather? I also sought a fabric interior'd car and while I love it I cant help but be tempted by getting a set of leather, chucking it in and seeing how it feels, considering you can pick up a decent for reasonable money.
Good call on the wheels too, they are a lovely wheel, just dont suit the dark/polished look. Have you decided on someone to map it?

Now Ive had the leather a while I prefer it.
I had the car mapped about a year ago now, I must of forgotten to update the thread! I got it mapped by Viper who did my old Audi S4.
I agree about the red, its not normally a colour I'd go for, but as soon as I saw it I had to have it, its so unique and really suits the car
