If you're handy with burning DVD's from ISO files there are sites you can download new map discs from, or buy one off ebay.
As you can imagine, they are very expensive from BMW.
Personally, I just left my 2005 one in, it did the job.
The most frustrating part of CCC sat nav is not being able to put in a postcode

I thought about an LCI tailgate but not really that bothered for it TBH. I rather like the Darkline lights against the red, so to replace them with LCI lights would just bring that problem straight back again!
If it wasn't such a hassle to do I might consider it. But to source a tailgate, get it sprayed, fitted, and the LCI lights coded I can't really be bothered.
I might not bother with the 335 exhaust now, I'm toying with a genuine Performance diffuser instead.

Mods wise, OEM style and retrofits is all I'm interested in these days, subtle but worthy smile

A simple but effective mod smile
I had the phone cradle in my armrest which was totally useless to me, so rather than it just wasting space I swapped it for the oddments tray.

Before, I had to sit my iPod in the drink holder!

As long as you don't want to keep it, you can remove the cradle by literally digging it out with a screwdriver. It will break it, but as you can't even give them away on ebay then its a bit pointless trying to save it, especially as it means removing the whole centre console to get it out!
The cradle is in two parts that are clipped together. With a long flat screwdriver you can pop out the inner part that the phone sits in. It doesn't matter how much you chew it up because the screwdriver will only push against the actual cradle.
Once that bit is out you will see 6 rectangular holes. These are where the clips are for the bottom section that holds it to the console.

This picture shows where they are:

Now just put the screwdriver into the holes and pop the clips out. I had to do 2 at the bottom on the same side, then it came out a lot easier!
Now just unplug the two connectors on the little circuit board and tuck the cable into the console. The new tray then just pushes into place.
Total time taken, approx 3 minutes smile

Much better!

It costs £10.30 from bmminiparts.com part number 7118064

I thought it was about time I dug out the DA and brightened up my headlights!
I can only imagine they've never been done before, so 10 years of crap off the roads hitting them had had quite an effect (check yours, you might be surprised!)

Before and after....

After countless hours of searching and weighing up the options of getting something else, Ive come to the realisation that this car does every thing I need perfectly well, so Ive decided to keep it. That will mean in the new year some freshening up, maybe new alloys or a refurb, and some other bits and bobs biggrin

I had some rust appear on one of the front arches, so got that sorted recently

Yes they are plastic, but it seems one of mine was replaced at some point in its past, Ive got no idea why, and its HPI clear too. Oh well.

MPG wise, it is mapped and sits at around 38-39 no matter how I drive. I live in Northamptonshire in the countryside, so it includes a mixture of open A roads, B roads, DC and occasional in town driving.
Last month I drove to central London and back, which was averaging 60-70 all the way there, crawling all the way into the centre at 6pm and then a very late night empty road blast home crusing at a fair pace ( wink ), by the time I was home it was on 36.x
I think my thermostats are due for a change soon, that should see a couple more MPG average.
If I reset it on a long motorway trip and cruise at 70-80 it can get high 40's.
This weekend I'll be driving to the bottom end of Cornwall, so will be interesting to see what it gets on that run.

There was also a couple of tiny spots appearing on the nearside rear arch too, which I got done at the same time but didn't get a pic as I only spotted them when I dropped the car off to get the front wing done!

I've been after a pair of genuine Performance gloss black grills ever since I got the car, earlier this week some finally came up for sale.
When I got the car it already had matt black ones fitted, but they had faded to grey.
I was surprised at just how much colour they had lost!

Now Ive had the leather a while I prefer it.
I had the car mapped about a year ago now, I must of forgotten to update the thread! I got it mapped by Viper who did my old Audi S4.
I agree about the red, its not normally a colour I'd go for, but as soon as I saw it I had to have it, its so unique and really suits the car smile

I've had an FRM2 sat in a cupboard for over a year, finally I managed to get it fitted today.
Thanks to having factory xenons I've now got angel eyes welcome lights, angel eyes DRL's, and the biggest surprise of all, they are no Bi-xenon too!
I wanted the FRM updated for the first too, but to get Bi-xenon too is a HUGE bonus, especially as I love it so much on my gf's Mini biggrin

Had my first problem in 2.5 years and 26k miles (apart from some rust appearing on a front wing), one of the rear callipers was sticking on.
My mate who runs an Audi specialist garage stripped it down, cleaned and regreased it which has solved the problem.
Its also had new rear pads, sensors and fresh brake fluid too smile
