Well I'm interested in buying this if any use to you?
No worries if not-nice car and interesting reading.
Afraid not, definetly keeping it for the time being.

Now with a fresh MOT.

Needed a pair of anti roll bar / droplink which was a doddle to change, and the rear upper control arm bush was fubar so that needed replacing and MOT passed.. For grand total of about £50 including MOT retest.

Must be said, getting the bush back into the control arm was a massive ballache! Took it to the local hi-q garage who did a pretty good job of getting it in with a bodge involving threaded bar and sockets... However they couldn't get it in fully so tried a couple of other garages which would not help, gave up and took it to Vauxhall - it would appear that the part is the same as on the Vectra.

They had the correct tool - basically a series of sockets - but did not have a threaded bar that went through the centre. Trip to local screwfix, heavy duty threaded bar purchased to compress the bush in and boom... Job done.

Still running very well at the moment!

Got a big weekend of towing next weekend and quite a few miles so get some good use out of him.
Just needs oil leak investigating and halting and then he will be perfect!

Bit of an update, had insurance call for this today so means it must be coming up to a year in my ownership.

Originally brought to run alongside my VX220, the VX has moved into a state of 'modification' so I haven't really been using it, so I brought a Series Landy aswell as a toy / backup for the Saab which well is also not really roadworthy at the moment. So now the Saab is my only car, and has been racking up the miles happily. Think i've done circa 6,000 in him so far.

Issues: Well apart from replacing the PCV kit,Turbo, rear lower arm bush, ARB droplinks and topping up with oil every now and then very little. However to be fair though I was aware of most of these issues as the previous owner told me these may be on way out etc..

The only real surprise was the water pump failing which came out of nowhere, and went from sounding iffy, to horrendous in the space of about 100miles! But that was quite an easy fix. To be fair to the Saab, most of the fixes have been surprisingly easy, and the car in general has been fairly easy to work on.

Positives: Goes like stink, comfortable, very good stereo, quiet and seems to do about 25/26mpg regardless of how driven.

All in all, a good year for Shedy motoring, especially for £500!

Another year passed..

No major issues to report. Given it fresh oil and filter and thats about it. Front tyres wearing a bit thin now :P

Only issues are:

1) Brake lights on bootlid not working, but third high level bootlid remains working. I've tried new bulbs, next thing is to clean connectors I guess.

2) Doesn't like starting sometimes. Sometimes will start first time without hesitation, other times has taken up to six attempts. Turn key, starter engages then just a hum, like its not turning anymore.

I've had the battery checked so I'm fairly sure its the starter.

Went through a phase of getting 33mpg. Seems to be averaging 29/30 overall which is relatively ok

He's now on 239,000 smile

Very impressive - I had a 9-5 aero estate 2003 - went like stink, couldn't really corner and cost me a fortune to maintain - definitely a Friday afternoon car whereas yours appears to be a Monday morning car on the new bosses first day when the quality assurance prize is a night out with Miss Sweden

Long overdue update..

Its currently off the road, with exhaust off, and front bumper off.

Few weeks ago the power steering hose corroded / burst and the MOT expired, so its not done much recently.

Think its on 250,000miles now..

Replacing the power steering hose is the biggest knobhead of a job in the world, initially I just brought the front section, but the rear section also turned out to be fubar, and a HUGE tosser to remove. But its off, and reassembly should in the next few days..

I've brought a new second hand exhaust, as the current one had a few holes in, and had been blowing for over a year :/

Also, I've finally brought a new starter, which should cure the starting issue.

The past 6 months Mrs tommobot has been mooching around it in, and getting 34mpg, so when its going its still a pretty good car!

Hopefully I'll do a bit more of an update in next few days..
