A mate built one for grass track racing.

IIRC he put two bike engines in it, I can't be sure but I think they were both in the back.

I'd keep the engine up front but fit something far more interesting. NA of course. Perhaps an M3 lump with RWD?

Hayabusa engine would need to be super, super light to make it worthwhile i would imagine. sub 500kgs.

Would cost a fortune to get that light.

I love the sound of a CBX 1000 though, that in the back would be amazing even if it was a bit slow!

Unless you're going batst mad then stick with the tried and tested way.

Mi16 installed correctly has been done where the quality of figment parts can now make it look factory OEM.

If you insist on being mad, the worlds your oyster. Personally I would still use a PSA engine. Something like a 3.0 v6 and then go down the forced induction route.

206 GTi 180 engine running on a standalone ECU. Relatively cheap engine and simple to install. Could possibly be up and running for £1,500.

Twin bike engined, 4wd hillclimber. How much does a 205 shell weigh, roughly?

First step is to replace those hideous wheels.

I wouldn't bother with making a mid-engined monster, even Peugeot had problems making the T16 handle. I'd go with a lightly tuned Mi16 engine and sort out the suspension and brakes properly; there are plenty of Mi16 engined 205s around but the majority have been bodged to hell.

I've got some 1.9 SMRs or some 306 five spokes you can have for beer, OP. Although I seem to recall you're in Scotland?

Cheers for the offer. Yep, all the way up in Glasgow otherwise i'd jump at those SMRs. It's gonna need spacers whatever i do.

If i go mid mount, it'll need the struts and hubs and subframes too. A full front end from a 156 or GTV shouldn't be too hard to come by.

If you want to use it on the road I wouldn't go chopping bits of the shell out, unless the attraction of having to get it through an IVA test is a strong one!

I'm not a massive diesel fan overall, but I think I'd go nuts with an XUD9 or even an 11 and go with long gearing. It's the lightest shell they ever fitted the TD to, afterall.

Defo not diesel.

Been looking at subframes and struts etc and I have quite a few mr2 spares. I think I'll graft that into the rear and then I have a wide choice of engines to use.

I'll put the hubs on too and then I can fit my Oz superleggeras. thumbup

If you like CBX1000 engines then mount two to a common crank.

Mid-engine 205 with a 2.0l V12 should be quite tasty.

Make it look look like this......
And stick a mentally powerful engine in. Did they make the Lexus soarer as a twin turbo? Cheap enough and tunable?
