Yellow halogen Angel Eyes fitted. Much prefer them.
Snap, if only they could be a bit brighter.

Indeed, they would make good drls but, they are practically invisible in daylight. I have heard that you can fit 20w bulbs (10w as standard apparently) but I haven't looked into it... Regardless, I'm pleased I made the change. The white xenons and yellow rings look pretty cool cool

I fitted 20w bulbs in place of the standards, they just about went in. They then melted, popped and never really made things any brighter as the filaments were in a different place.

After a scary fault with the EML light and it running rough, which turned out to be a really cheap fix (coil) I'm hoping for a while my wallet is given a bit of a rest! However I'm booking the MOT soon...

Hey mate, any pics of the yellow halo's? i've got white as it matches the HID's but could be tempted if they look good.

Ref your rust on the boot, I had chipsaway do the bit around the handle on my car, was £150ish. Did a good job and will keep it at bay for a year or so hopefully!

I managed to finally fix the rough running on mine, turned out to be a cracked spark plug!!

Mine is currently utterly and inexcuseably filthy. I havent washed it since christmas. Had a bit of a rough few months (splitting up with the fiance and buying her out of our house) so the car has taken a real back seat. Is your pic at fleet services on the M3??

Hi Graham. I've yet to take any photos of the new halo's, I'll get onto it and post one up. I can see the appeal of the white rings, but after mine blew, and reading lot's of reviews of their potentially short lifespan I decided to go back to OEM. I like the way they look with my white hids.

I think the boot repair will be the first on my list to do after my basic training, I'll keep chipsaway in mind! Glad you got yours sorted, and sorry to hear of your recent troubles. That's right, Fleet Services London bound late last year. We never drive past it! My car was disgracefully filthy! It was a good few weeks after that until I cleaned it, it was pretty much black from behind hehe Any other plans for your 530i?

I was considering swapping my 530i for an M5 to use as the family bus so I gave it a good clean up earlier in the week.

Now I'm keeping it as it looks so much better when clean, shiny and immaculate inside.

I'm also just about to drop a considerable sum of cash on a new full set of tyres. So far a toss up between Michelin Pilot Sports, Bridgestone Potenza and Continental ContiSports.

After much talking up on here, I put Falken 453's on the rear of mine. Considerably cheaper than the ones you mention and i'm certainly happy with them!

No plans for mine other than service it and keep it going! Do you know if I can clear the brake fluid 'service' light on the dash at home? Its annoying my OCD.

After this thread for inspiration I got the Local Poles to clean my car this morning. Did a bloody good job and its nice and shiny again..... First time in 3 months!

Its using a bit of oil and a bit of water but hey, its on 153,000 now. Looks far fresher than the miles would have you believe!

Im confused what you mean about the halo's? I've just put LED bulbs in.

Sorry Graham I meant the bulbs, one bulb per side to illuminate the two angel eyes. I've used standard halogen bulbs to replace the leds. I'm not sure how to clear that brake service light, I'm sure there's a way though.

The brake service light can only be reset by resetting the service light. I just had this done on mine and there was no menu on the fancy Snap-On diagnostic tool for resetting just the brakes, only options for oil service, I1 and I2.

Sheeeeeit those Falkens are cheap - £356 for a full staggered set on my type 66 wheels.

I've found a full Y rated set of Bridgestone Potenzas for £440 delivered, not bad at all really. Going to have a quick chat with my local blokes, see if they can get anywhere near.

Sadly only £40 per tyre cheaper for me than Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's......and having had both, I know which I'd rather have....

I've decided to go with a set of some I've had before: Bridgestone RE050A Potenzas.

I've found the right staggered set online for £440 delivered.

As everybody has said to check my local tyre place etc I just did that. They quoted like for like and their price was....

...£788.

tts. Ordering online now, £20 to fit.

ah ok. makes sense. I'm sticking with LED's so if you ever need any spares i've got some! I cant make the next SS as i'm working else it would be nice to poke around your car and Ross's 7'er.

It would be great to get a few of our cars together.. I have a lot of free time in April so perhaps something can be arranged.

Enjoying this thread, having recently bought a 2003 E39 530 'sport'. I live in the US and there weren't many manual sport cars for sale to choose from - but I got lucky finding one only 100 miles away, that had some service history. (I am new here but it seems pretty uncommon for people to keep maintenance paperwork for their cars.. At least in my limited experience) I am loving it, though not without a few issues, of course.

I had to put a new radiator in (equivalent of £100 for an OEM part, delivered to my door, so not bad) and put new discs on the front ( which I'm frustrated to say has not completely cured a judder under braking..)
Most of the pixels were out on the radio display, but $115 fixed that ($15 for a DIY replacement cable, the $100 to mail it off to California for someone else to do it properly...)

I put the word Sport in inverted commas above, as mine doesn't seem to be the same spec as a UK one, having plainer front and rear bumpers (in my case badly battered..) and the split rims like R5PNY's photos. Sports seats and 3 spoke wheel present and correct though. If anyone knows what other subtle differences there might be, I'd be happy to hear..

Sad to say, one of my priorities was to connect my iPod / music player - as others have commented, swapping the radio out would have lost me some of the OBC functions but I was happy to find that a $20 cable got me a functioning aux-in. Well the second $20 cable did. Not sure what car the first one was designed for, but it wasn't mine..

The buttons on my climate control keep occasionally pinging off, getting away smoothly in 1st is sometimes problematic ( I think my clutch control skills have atrophied..) and the 5th gear selection is odd (hard to get in when cold, taking very deliberate effort, but easy to get fifth instead of 3rd when warm..??)

Anyhow - thanks for the tip for the "ultimate cup holders" R5PNY, I have ordered a pair. Pricey, but in the land of the free refill the diddly standard cup holders just aren't good enough..

(Have just re-read this before posting, am embarrassed that I'm lucky enough to own a beautifully made, beautifully engineered sports saloon that drives, steers and stops better than any of the brand new rental cars I've tried while I've lived here, and mostly I've talked about cup holders and MP3 players... Must try harder. )

Will post pics another time..
