Re the brake judder: that'll be your front thrust arms, almost considered a consumable on the E39 much like the dampers. Get those changed (not expensive) and you should be braking straight, true and judder free.

As for your spec, in the US the E39 was available with a sport upgrade to the SE type spec. This gave you M-Tech 2 suspension and ride height, sports interior etc. In fact you car will be identical to ours mechanically but with the stock SE front and rear bumpers (and probably the SE type rear exhaust box / muffler).

The North American 530i Sport just doesn't quite look legit when you are used to the UK front and rear bumpers.. But I think I prefer the wheels.

(That puddle on the concrete was not from my car, btw..)

Nowhere near as tidy as yours Sparks!

Thanks! Yours isn't a Sport, over here it's known as an SE with those bumpers. It may have Sport suspension....

I hope it is the sport suspension - I couldn't imagine wanting to live with anything firmer on the roads 'round here!

US market didn't have SE/Sport, that car certainly does have the Sport Option Pack: seats, suspension etc.

As said above, identical to our cars minus front and rear bumpers.

I see, didn't know that. You could still order them with the Sport bumpers though in the US judging by the amount of pictures of US E39's I've seen.

Maybe, not sure. You do see a lot of US spec cars with M5 bumpers on, not seen many with the Sport inserts (same bumper after all).

Ah quite true. I really want the M5 type bumper on mine. Cotswold BMW apparently supply the grill etc for it for around £50, it's just a matter of taking out the t bar apparently. Is it necessary to have any modifications done to the grill for the ducts on a standard Sport I wonder. If you're reading this Fox, I know you've done the mod to your car.... cheers smile

There was one model which came with them - the 2003 540i Sport. No other model except the M5 was sold from the factory with the Sport bumpers.

Back on summer tyres for me yesterday, plus a bit of geo work.

The Kumho tyres it came on were ok but a bit, erm, downmarket for my exquisite tastes wink

The Falken HS439 winters came off and on went a spanky new set of Bridgestone Potenzas. I've been told they wear quite quickly but are as stick as hell - just up my street.

Worth having your tracking looked at, mine had managed to go from a nice 1 degree toe in to a horrible 4 degree toe out over the course of 10k miles. All sorted now and ready for a summer of school runs, tip runs and general hoonery...

Mine's dusty too. It's soon to be taken off the road though, going to the BTCC at Donnington in April, then that's it till I guess mid July frown

We'll have to meet up if we don't before then. Hopefully we can get a few up to Mercedes Benz Sunday service....if I manage to get on the list (or my mate who often comes with) do but you can't you'd be more than welcome to hitch a ride up.....it was awesome last year.

Not confirmed yet but think it's the last weekend in April but as said, not confirmed as yet. If I get on the list I'll be going, don't have any special plans through April.
