Can't seem to get it to work...
I've never actually tired mine, will have a crack and report back. Had it on my 130 and it was crap, not once did it dial what the number I wanted. Was good for showing off changing radio stations though.

I also had the problem with my OH recently. Wanted to swap mine for a 540 and the OH went mental saying there is no point swapping for the same car.

If you hold down the voice button the steering wheel (with the engine running), does the car beep at you?

Interesting, I'd need the part number off the ULF module as it could be Pre-Gen 1

84 21 6 931 854-01 Pre-Gen 1
84 21 6 934 552 end of life 06/03 1st generation
84 21 6 938 610 end of life 10/03 2nd generation
84 21 6 934 961 end of life 03/04 3rd generation
84 21 6 950 089 end of life 06/04 4th generation
84 21 6 945 387 end of life 01/05 5th generation
84 10 6 955 522 end of life 10/05 6th generation
84 10 6 969 268 end of life 04/06 7th generation
84 21 6 958 358 end of life 05/06 8th generation
84 10 6 987 546 end of life 09/06 9th generation
84 10 6 980 130 end of life 11/06 10th generation
84 10 9 133 329 end of life 01/07 11th generation
84 10 9 145 007 end of life 05/07 12th generation
84 10 9 154 358 current production 13th generation

My friends 2002 has thrown me as his does have voice and connects to his Galaxy S2 but I wonder now if his has been upgraded?

Can't get the Bluetooth to work, no biggie really. I'll try again at the weekend. But thanks for the tips!

Tonight at Sandbanks and one at The New Forest.

Nice pics of Banks Road mate. Haven't seen that view for years. Used to love going down there and watching the sun-sets with a beer from the deck at the Harbour Heights Hotel.

Cheers,
Paul.

That picture really doesn't look like this country!

Whats the bluetooth doing/or not as the case may be? you've checked you have the module fitted above your nav? Checked the wiring is plugged in? I caught the cable when removing/reinstalling my nav drive and it came unplugged.

Have you followed a youtube vid? You need the key in pos.1 i.e. no lights on dash, then hold the armrest voice button until it beeps and the dash will say 'ready to pair' where the OBC is.

Lovely cars in this thread - yours is especially nice sparks.

I guess I can't really let a photo opportunity go by, so here is mine. I've had it 7 years this year.

Sparks that looks absolutely lovely. How does it compare to your pre-facelift model? Would love to see it at the next mini meet if you're free whenever it is.

Always had a huge soft spot for facelifted E39 sports, they look superb.

Thanks Fox, yours is equally as nice, pretty much identical from the outside! I want the ///M strips on my doors too. Did you fit those or did they come with the car? Seems odd some Sports don't have them.

Graham- I'm beginning to think something is unplugged or missing...

Ross, thanks. It's much improved over the 528. Much smoother power delivery, sports suspension is brilliant and it certainly feels more confident and planted on country roads. It's not a whole lot quicker but all the little changes add up to make a big difference. Looks wise the Sport has so much more road presence. It sits lower, bigger bumpers and the 18 inch alloys. The ride isn't as comfortable as the 528i, but that's not an issue. Still a hugely comfortable car to drive.

I need to stop looking at this thread, it always ends up with me going to the classifieds and auto trader in an attempt to find a local 530i sport to test drive.

BMW stopped fitting them as standard when the facelift came around - the prefacelift cars had them as standard, the post facelift cars had them only as a dealer accessory option.

Thanks. Apparently they are available for £20 each at the dealer. Do I have to take the door apart?

No, the existing ones just pop off and the new ones simply pop on.
